Making Progress By Divine Guidance (Part 2) – Abiding in Him.

Making Progress By Divine Guidance (Part 2) – Abiding in Him.

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: John 15:1-8.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

God has a purpose for His Children in every season. If you don’t progress you will regress. Stagnation leads to stinkiness. God has a plan of continuous progress for all His Children. 3 John 1:2. Your progress today determines your future. Progress is a function of obedience to The Lord. Every disobedience invites the judgment of God. Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden was the beginning of man’s toiling – Gen. 3:17-19. Anything you do outside the Will of God will ultimately amount to nothing. In Gen. 26, God told Isaac not to go down to Egypt but stay in Gerar; he obeyed and God prospered and blessed him greatly. Every instruction is a set-up to take you to your next level. Through the disobedience of the First Adam, the struggle came to humanity (Romans 5:19), and through the Obedience of The Last Adam, The Blessing of God came to the Redeemed.

From our above Text, The Father is The Vinedresser, Christ is The Vine and we are the planting of The Lord. As The Husbandman, He takes care of His Garden, He supplies everything needed for the fruitfulness of His Branch. True Progress in life is a function of continuous abiding in Christ, The True Vine. As our Vine, He supplies every nutrient needed for our continuous fruitfulness. Phil. 4:19.

Our fruitfulness brings Glory to Him. Exod. 23:25 – “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.”

The depth of a root most times determines the height and fruitfulness of a Tree; the root keeps looking for water to ensure the continuous flow of life for the Tree.

God wants our roots in Christ to keep growing. Anyone not abiding in Christ is living a life without purpose and direction. “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ABIDING IN HIM

6.    You will not wither away. Jn. 15:6
