Making Progress By Divine Guidance (Part 3) – Are You Making Progress?

Making Progress By Divine Guidance (Part 3) – Are You Making Progress?

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Gen. 12:1-5.

1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan, and into the land of Canaan they came.

As we approach the last quarter of 2020, we need to evaluate ourselves on how far we have been able to attain the goal of Heaven for our lives this year. Am I making progress is an honest assessment of yourself before God? In our above Text, God instructed Abram to “Get Thee out ………”. God always leads us in the way of Progress. He promised to make Abraham great and make him a blessing to the nations of the earth. God often leads us in places we never know and His Ways are sometimes unconventional. One mistake Abraham made was taking Lot along with him. Another mistake was that God was leading him to Canaan but he went down to Egypt. Many have strayed from God’s Destination for their lives. It was in the land of Egypt he lied Sarah was his sister, it was in Egypt he got Hagar and bore Ishmael.

In Gen. 17, God had to reintroduce Himself to Abraham as The Almighty God and that he should walk before Him and be perfect. He went ahead and promised to multiply him exceedingly. Anytime you try to fix your mistakes by yourself, you sink deeper into that problem; rather hand it over to God, The Almighty, unto Whom everything bows before!

God wants us to be focused on Him and not the problem.

What are The Conditions for Making Progress?

1.    Obeying The Voice of God. Deut. 28:1-2

2.    Surrender yourself totally to God. Don’t try to fix your problems. Gen. 22:15-17

3.    Depart from your old ways. Gen. 12:5

4.    Absolute trust and reliance on The Word of God. Ps. 125:1

5.    Be faithful in your giving. Luke 6:38

6.    Be a Worshipper – Psalm 67:5-7

7.    Be a man of Prayer – Matt. 17:21

God Bless You!
