Text: Joshua 6:1-5,15-16.
“ 1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor. 3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. 5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him. 15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. 16 And it came to pass at the seventh time when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city.”
The Year 2021 is like a city with a fortified gate. The Gates to the Year 2021 has been opened to you by The Lord just as He told Joshua in our above Text. Every month and Year is pregnant with both good and bad. December is the Gateway to The New Year, hence the need for higher spirituality.
Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And The King of Glory shall come in. Praises lift up gates according to Psalm 100:4 – Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His Name.
From our Text, despite the enemy fortifying the gates of Jericho, God said He had given the city to His People. Regardless of the gates, the enemy might have put for the Year 2021, God is saying He is Faithful and would lift up the gates for you. Heb. 10:23 – “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Inside of Jericho were the Blessings of Israel (deliverances, prosperity, etc.).
Before Israel could attain their inheritance, Jericho had to fall. As a child of Promise realizes to every promise of God, there would be obstacles mounted by the enemy.
In closing, make praise your lifestyle so that all walls of Jericho will come crumbling before you! Make a joyful shout to The Lord, all you lands! Serve The Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that The Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
