The Kings & Priests (Father’s Day).

The Kings & Priests (Father’s Day).

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo (Senior Pastor).

Text: Rev. 5:1-10.

1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

True fathers are not common – 1 Cor. 4:15 says “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. There are specific roles for fathers. In our above Text, John Beloved was narrating his vision where an Angel was asking Who is worthy to open the Book? None was able to open the Book until an Elder said, weep not for The Lion of Judah has prevailed to open The Book and to lose the seals.

The destiny of man is in the Book. Until the Book is open destiny is under seal. Weeping continues until The Book is open. There are many absentee fathers in our world. Our world needs more godly fathers who will take up the responsibility to open the Book so that destinies will not be locked up. True fathers pay the price to ensure the fulfillment of the destinies of their children. Our Lord Jesus Christ passed through many pains before prevailing to open The Book.

There are scars of sacrifices in the lives of true fathers. True fathers are prayerful men. Many destinies are behind bars due to the carelessness of their fathers. True fathers are ever learning to improve themselves (especially mentally) for the sake of those they are leading. True fathers are men of authority, men who do not condone mediocrity.

True fathers are always filled with The Spirit of God like it was said of Christ in Isaiah 11:1-2. There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

True fathers are men God can depend upon to liberate and raise children to fulfill their destiny. God is calling us to be kings and priests in our homes. True fathers are kings and priests in their families. As kings, they rule with authority. As Priests, they take spiritual responsibility by leading their families always before God.

Roles of Fathers as Kings

1.    Develop a vision for your family just like Christ fashioned a vision for His Church.

2.    Kings run their affairs and administration of their home. They stand up to their roles.

3.    Kings make sure there is justice & equality in the land. You are to stand against every injustice of the enemy.

4.    Kings protect their territory from intruders.

5.    They invest in their families – quality time, financially, spiritually, etc.

Roles of Fathers as Priests

1.    They lead their family in offering praise and worship to God.

2.    They intercede for the family before God.

3.    They teach their family The Word of God.

God Bless You!
