Ministering: Samuel Awobajo (Hephzibah Youths President) – Annual Youths’ Week.
Text: Col. 1:16.
“16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”
Since the beginning of creation, every single person that has walked the face of this planet has wondered, “Why am I here?” God has a purpose and an assignment for every single one of you and the devil wants to make you feel like you do not have one. It does not matter how broken you are, how messed up your life is, or how many mistakes you have made in your life, God has a purpose for you.
WHAT IS PURPOSE?
The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
- It is the or existence of a thing.
- Jeremiah 29:11”For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith The Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
- Jerimiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
- God has sanctified us and ordained us to be a prophet onto nations; we are a tool in His Hand for a specific assignment.
- If a purpose of something is not known, abuse is inevitable. If you do not know your purpose, you will just be wandering all over the place. Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
HOW DO YOU FIND YOUR PURPOSE?
The purpose that God has given your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment. What we believe about who we are has a massive impact on how our purpose is lived out. Stop for a minute and ask yourself what makes you, you?
TURNING TO GOD TO FIND IT
If you want to know what your purpose you must begin with God – turn to God’s Word not the world. “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His Eye on us. You discover your purpose and identity through your relationship with Christ. We can find hints of our purpose in the things that we do that come naturally to us. What gifts and activities do you already love, have joy, and passion in? What do people most commend you about?
Let us look at the story of David, one of the most famous kings in the bible. David was anointed as king, by Prophet Samuel as a teenager, but it would be many years until he actually took the throne as king of Israel. During the years leading up until David has finally taken the Throne, he was developing his calling that God has given to him. As a young man he was a shepherd, He was very passionate about his calling. Joseph fulfilled his purpose by being faithful in Potiphar’s house. Genesis 39:7. As long as you remain faithful to your calling, the purpose in your life will come to pass in Jesus Name.
FIND YOUR PASSION
What is your passion? Figuring out what your passion can be one of the easiest ways to discover your purpose in your life. What gets you excited to get up each morning? Your passion is your driving force. Passion is an “Intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction; a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept”. In order to find your passion and purpose, you need to look inward and see what truly inspires you – what makes you feel alive. This may take a while to figure out but with prayer, fasting and a focused mindset you will find it.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FEEL YOUR PURPOSE IS OUT OF REACH
One thing you have to remember is that God’s Spirit lives in you, and He has given us that to help lead us to the right path to our purpose. Second you must remember that His Grace covers every mistake, wrongdoing, sin, and shortcoming because of Jesus’ Death on The Cross. Don’t ever feel like it’s too late to make amends with God because of all of the wrong doings you have done in your past. God is a forgiving God (read 1 John 1:9), its’ never too late to begin to process of finding your purpose with God.
God Bless You!
