Celebrating Motherhood!

Celebrating Motherhood!

Ministering: Senior Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Prov. 31:21-25.

21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. 25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.”

Motherhood is the state of being a mother, it is occupying the position of a custodian over a child. Giving birth or adopting a child is not all it takes to being a mother – it’s only the beginning. Many have children and do not provide all it takes to train them to be assets to the society.

Motherhood is God partnering with a woman to produce righteous seeds on the Earth. Having Children is an assignment, a great calling from God. Children are a heritage from The Lord, He gives to Whom He wills. Psalm 127. Pregnancy is a mystery only God can unravel. Mothers travail not only in the place of giving birth but in the place prayers. Mothers go through so much in order to bring out the best in every child. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

Mothers are one of the greatest intercessor. Continually they are on their knees praying for their family. Abraham Lincoln said, “No one is poor who has a godly mother”. Mothers are usually our first teachers, they model God to us (like Solomon’s Mother trained him – Proverbs 31.

There are good mothers as well as bad mothers. Herodias was a bad mother as she influenced her daughter to ask for John the Baptist’s head. Mark 6:17-29. Hannah is a great example of a good mother – she raised Samuel up in the way of The Lord. Mothers are nurturers – they impart our children with godly characters that make them great in life.

A Word of Advice for our Men:
  • Please encourage our mothers continually. Do not add to their headaches.
  • Lighten their burden. Listen to them.
  • Be patient with their weaknesses just as God is patient with you
  • Defend them before any external party.
  • Help them to develop and fulfill their destiny.

God Bless You!
