Text: 1 Samuel 10:1-11.
” 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore. 11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.“
To every anointing, there is a Purpose. God never anoints without a Purpose. Anything can be anointing. A Marriage can be anointed; a Business can be anointed, and a Person can be Anointing. The Anointing is God’s Special Hand upon anything or anyone. Even our Lord Jesus Christ was anointed. The Name Christ means “The Anointing One”.
Anointing is the Divine Enabling Power operating in the life of a person that makes him or her do extraordinary things. The Anointing moved David from the Bush into the Palace. He mentioned in Psalm 23 that The Lord anointed him and his cup runs over.
To be Anointed is to be set apart for a Divine Use. Paul and Barnabas were anointed to fulfill a Purpose. Acts 13:1-3. When you are anointed, you are no longer an ordinary person. Anointing averts every evil. Touch not my Anointed and do My Prophets no harm”. Esther was anointed, thus, was preferred more than everyone in a foreign land. Same with Daniel and the 3 Hebrew Boys, they were anointed and thus achieved great feats in a foreign land. When You are anointed, your eyes are opened and you can arrest the arrester.
From our above Text, Saul was sent to look for the lost Donkeys of his Father, but in the process met with destiny.
For every greatness, there must be a period of preparation. Even our Lord Jesus Christ prepared Himself before He was Anointed. Luke 4. Paul in Galatians 1 also mentioned his preparation in Arabia.
What the Anointing Can Do in a Life
- The Anointing destroys yokes. A yoke is a rod put upon an Oxen to limit its progress. Many carry spiritual yokes that have been limiting their progress in life, God will destroy such yokes today by His Anointing.
- Anointing distinguishes a Person from everyone. It distinguishes you for greatness in life.
- The Anointing brings Restoration. Whatever has been lost will be recovered like Saul found the lost Donkey in 1 Sam. 10.
- The Anointing will make You ride on the high places – You will be dining with Kings and important Dignitaries.
- The Anointing gives You Divine Speed to achieve things in record time. It ends every stagnation, You move forward supernaturally. You can no longer be found where you were yesterday. Unending progress becomes your portion. 1 Sam. 10:3
- The Anointing makes You indestructible and untouchable
- The Anointing magnetizes Favor to You. The Anointing will advertise You. Saul found favor with all after the Anointing.
- The Anointing will make you a Man or Woman of Exploits. Saul began to Prophesize when the Anointing came upon him.
- The Anointing will cause The Spirit of The Lord to come afresh upon You. Isa. 61:1-3
- The Anointing will make You a carrier of the Presence of God. 1 Sam. 10:8
- The Anointing makes all God’s Promises upon Your Life be fulfilled. 1 Sam. 10:7
- The Anointing levels every obstacle and limitation before You. The Anointing of David destroyed Goliath.
How to Maintain The Anointing in Your Life
- Be Humble.
- Obey the Commands of God.
- Let The Word of God be your daily check.
- Live Holy. Heb. 1:9.
- Witness Christ – Dan. 12:3.
- Be a Worshipper Ps. 23:5.
- Continue in the Service of God – Exod. 23:25.
- Remain connected to The True Vine. John 15:5.
- Be a Generous Giver.
