Text: John 21:1-7.
” 1 After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise showed he himself. 2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. 3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth and entered into a ship immediately, and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning has now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. 6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.“
Redemption is God’s route to repositioning anyone to Greatness. Salvation is God taking us from the valley to the mountain top. God is the only Person Who can elevate anyone in life. The Psalmist said – “I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. Ps. 40:1-3.
Greatness is the quality of being Great, Distinguished, Eminent, Powerful, and Influential. Greatness is also the quality of being remarkable in magnitude (large in numbers and quality). Greatness is also attaining everything God has ordained for you in destiny.
Outside God, nobody can make you great in life. Nothing apart from God can take you far in life. It takes God to take you to where you belong in life. No matter what you have achieved in life, there is the next level of greatness God still has in store for You. God repositioned Abraham in Gen. 12:1-2. You can’t remain where you are (not physically per se, but spiritually) and expect God to reposition you. Isaac wanted to reposition himself (from Gerah), but God told him to stay where he was to be repositioned to the next level of greatness. There is another level to where you currently are.
From our above Text (John 21), the Disciples were in a certain location where failure was their lot (toiling and catching nothing). Your destiny is in the Hands of God, hence, He has positioned you where you are to be great. The disciples were destined to be fishers of men, but they returned to fishing, hence they caught nothing. It was after The Lord breathed The Holy Spirit on them, that they were repositioned for greatness. Catching fish was no longer God’s destiny for them, so they obeyed His instruction to cast their net to the right side before they caught multitudes. May You obey God to reposition and cast your net from the wrong side to the right side. Many times, God will reposition us from the wrong associations in order to take us to the next level of greatness.
All the resources needed to make you great are already waiting for you on the right side. Divine allocations follow Divine repositioning. The disciples could not succeed because they were on the wrong side – in John 21:5, The Lord asked them “children, have you any meat” (have you made any progress from your place of disobedience). The right side is where you encounter Christ, the wrong place is where there is nothing to show for your labor. All the potentials for manifesting your greatness are on the right side. The enemy beckons for us to cast our net to the wrong side but Christ is always waiting for us on the right side.
God Bless You!
