The Essence of Special Strength.

The Essence of Special Strength.

Ministering: Assistant Pastor Alaba Olanipekun.

Text: 1 Kings 18:45-46.

45 And it came to pass in the meanwhile, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel. 46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah, and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.KJV.

Prov. 24:10 says if your strength fails on the day of battle, your strength is little. We all need to acquire more strength to keep achieving greater feats in life. The Hand of The Lord came upon Elijah and he received special strength to outrun a chariot.

What is Strength? It is the ability to do something that needs a lot of physical and mental effort. Strength is the degree something is strong or full of power. “Special” means something different from the usual or normal, distinguished by unique qualities. So “Special Strength” is a combination of both definitions.

A unique feature of Special Strength is that it is given by God alone. From Acts 1:8 The Holy Spirit is the One that empowers with Special Strength. God is so rich in Power and Strength, hence He was able to create Heaven and Earth. God desires to release this abundance of His Strength to us His Redeemed. Paul in Eph. 3:16 prayed that we might be strengthened with Might by His Spirit in our inner man. Isa. 40:29 says that God gives strength to the weary, and to him who has no might He increases power. We need God’s Power to be able to do exploits in The Kingdom.

A critical factor that can slow anyone down in life is a lifestyle of Sin and Disobedience to The Word of God. The spiritual controls the physical, hence we need this special strength.

Factors that Can Accelerate Special Strength in Us

  • A deeper Revelation of The Love of God. 1 John 3:1. 1 Cor. 2:9 says – But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man. The things which God has prepared for those who love Him
  • Openness through Prayers – Luke 6:12
  • Comfort from The Word – Rom. 15:4

John 1:12 says “But as many, as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name:  who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

We need special strength because of the day of adversity that comes to all. Prov. 24:10. Whether you are prepared for battle or not, life will present them to everyone, and it is your strength level that will determine whether you end up as a victor or victim.  God also gave special strength to David to pursue, overtake and recover all the enemy came to steal from him.

Luke 10:19 tells us Christ has given special strength – “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Victory over forces of darkness is the essence of the special strength God has given us. Acts 10:38 mentions how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Spirit and with power, Who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

God gives us special strength so we can do greater works – John 14:12. He also gives us Special Strength so we can activate it so He can do above all we ask or think.

Who Qualifies for This Special Strength?

  • Whosoever believes in Jesus Christ – John 1:12
  • Those who are dead to self – John 12:23-24
  • Walking in Holiness – Amos 3:3,
  • Keeping a conscience void of offense towards God and Men. Acts 24:16
  • Walking in Love
  • Engaging in the Power of Worship – Eph. 5:19
  • Power of Fasting – Isaiah 58:6-8

In closing Job 9:10 – He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number.

God Bless You!
