Text: 1 Chron. 4:9-10.

“9 And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying Because I bare him with sorrow. 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested” KJV.

God never turns a deaf ear to the genuine cry of His Beloved. Whatever is currently in your hands is enlargeable by God. The God that multiplied 5 loaves and 2 fish is still in the business of enlarging the capacity of His Children. Man’s life is like a container that has enlargeable capacity. God always gives talents and gifts according to everyone’s capacity. We are to trade (put to productive use) with whatever God has placed in our hands. The Ones with 5 and 2 talents traded with what they have and God committed more into their hands. This means God enlarges our capacity as we faithfully put to productive use whatever He previously gave us.

All through Scripture God was enlarging the capacity of His Faithful Ones. He called Abraham out of where he was into an enlarged place. He promised to make his seed great and multiply them. Wherever we are now, God is saying there is the next level. The Sons of the Prophet beseeched the Man of God to accompany them as they wanted an enlarged territory. God is a God of Multiplication, whatever anyone gives Him, He multiplies and enlarges it in return. As we invest more of our time and resources in His Kingdom, He enlarges our territory.

From our above Text, Jabez despite his faulty foundation and name, called on The God of Israel for an enlarged capacity; God hearkened to his prayers because He found him more honorable than others. This Year is rolling away, We all need to assess our lives to see if we have indeed fulfilled Heaven’s Mandate for this Year. Our destiny by the creation mandate is to multiply and have dominion on the Earth.

God does not desire to leave His Children wherever they are; His goal is to help us progress in life. The LORD never left anyone to remain the same way after meeting them; Blind Bartimaeus, the impotent man, the ten lepers, etc. Everywhere He went, He was doing good. He is still in the Business of changing the destiny of as many that care to call upon Him.

How to Get to Your Place of Enlargement

  • You have to Cry for help from God – 1 Chron. 4:9-10
  • Pray for His Hand to be with You.
  • When You are tired of where you are and acknowledge your weakness before Him – 2 Cor. 12:8-10
  • When You jettison all your self-righteousness and evil ways – Is. 55:6

Enlargement is an antidote to stagnancy. The Bible makes us understand that God is not a God of Stagnancy but a God of Enlargement. Wherever You and I are now, God can still expand us a thousand times more. May The Lord God of your fathers make you thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you! Deut. 1:11.
