Text: Matt. 9:35-38.
” 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; 38 Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.” KJV.
Harvest is a reward for times of sowing, laboring, and hard work. From our above Text, We can say that every Harvest is time sensitive. Harvest time in farming rarely lasts forever, it’s usually for a set period. The Lord reiterated this again about the time-sensitive of harvest in John 4:35-36 – “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together”
Harvest is the period of gathering the results of days, months, and years of labor. A Season of Harvest is gathered in all the resulting of sowing. No matter how skillful a farmer is, he or she must still lean on God to show Mercy so the harvest does not rot away or be destroyed by natural disasters. 1 Cor. 3:6-7 – “ I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. The Lord Jesus enjoined us to Pray to The LORD of Harvest so we may get a good harvest. God promised His People Favor in Exod. 3:21-22 so that they will not go empty from the land of bondage.
In Psalm 13:1-6, David was Praying for Harvest from God – “How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord My God; Enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.”
What Must I do for God to Give Me Bountiful Harvest?
- Repent from all your past mistakes – Acts 13:9
- Live a Holy and Consecrated Life – Heb. 12:14
- Trust in God for a Great Harvest – John 4:35-36
- Make Praise & Thanksgiving a Lifestyle – Ps. 67:6, Hab. 3:17
- Wait for Him for your turnaround
- Forgive others as God has forgiven you in Christ – Matt. 6:14-15
- Activate Your Harvest by Faith (confess it)
- Pray without ceasing during the season of Harvest – Matt. 17:21
