God Is Our Refuge.

God Is Our Refuge.

Ministering:  Senior Pastor Shola Awobajo

Text:  Psalm 46: 1-5.

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” KJV.

As our custom every month, We are here to express our gratitude to God for seeing us through another month. He has been faithful over our lives. God has been good to us. Ps. 21:11 shows how God made the enemy’s plans to fail over our lives. God never allowed the imagination of the enemy to come to pass.

Ps. 8:1 – O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the Heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightiest still the enemy and the avenger. God is worthy to be praised and adored for all His doings in our lives. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to celebrate the sufficiency of our God. He has been our refuge, strength, and a very present help in times of trouble.

Without Him, the deep waters of life might have consumed us. All through the Old Testament, we saw God defending and rescuing Israel from their enemies. What He was to Israel in the time of old, He is much more to us in the New Covenant. Ps. 124 said, “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say if it had not been the Lord who was on our side when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick when their wrath was kindled against us …..”

He has been our security, support, and sufficient help. He never comes late. We are also here to celebrate His Supremacy over our lives. In any situation, realize God is bigger than any storm. Don’t focus on the circumstance, turn your focus to He who is infinitely greater than any circumstance. He is a very present help in times of trouble. Nahum 1:17 says “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in Him.”

God as Our Refuge

  • Know that there is a place of refuge in God you can always run to. God is our hiding place in life. His Name is a Strong Tower for the righteous to always run to
  • Know that there is always help for you in God. At no time will He ever turn His back on you. Ps. 121, Heb. 13:5
  • Know that God is bigger than every trouble. His name is “Emmanuel”, thus, He is always with you.
  • Know that there is victory at the end of any trouble that comes your way. 1 John 4:5
  • Know that as a child of God, you are not in charge whenever any storm comes, God is. He says “Be still and know that I am God”.  2 Chron. 20

God bless you!
