Recovering The Lost Glory.

Recovering The Lost Glory.

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Matthew 17:1-6.

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. KJV

We were originally created to show-forth the glory of God. 1 Pet. 2. Isa. 43:7 says, “everyone who is called by My Name, Whom I created for My glory, Whom I formed and made.” Shame should be far from us as children of God. He formed us with the purpose of exhibiting His Glory. From our above text, Christ selected three disciples to see a higher dimension of His glory on the Mount of Transfiguration. We did not choose Him; He chose us before the foundation of the world. He chose us as a royal priesthood, a chosen generation and a Holy nation to show forth His glory. He also chose us to be the light of the world so men could see our good works and glorify Him in Heaven.

Man lost the glory in the Garden of Eden; thus, shame became the default mode of every Person. But thank God for Jesus Christ who came to recover the glory back to everyone that believes in Him. Without that glory upon our lives, we are but ordinary beings on the Earth. It is His glory that mesmerizes and makes us a marvel on the Earth. His glory transfigures us as we walk and abide in Him. It is as we ascend to the Mountain-top that His glory transforms us. His glory rarely transfigures anyone staying at the valley. Glory is God’s Eternal splendor, power and might. Glory connotes the full weight of everything God is. Glory is the full nature and essence of God. Isaiah saw it and melted – Isa. 6. You cannot see His glory and remain the same. His glory is a “game-changer”. Isaiah’s ministry was no longer the same after he saw His glory; he spoke more about the Messiah probably more than all the other prophets.

It is His glory that enables any man to complete their divine assignment on Earth. Jesus finished His assignment; Paul also finished his course; I pray same will be said of you. God revealed a measure of His glory to Moses in Exod. 33 & 34. Whatever You may have lost this Year, God’s Glory is able to help you recover them. 1 Sam. 30 is a story of how God helped David and his men to recover all the enemy had stolen. They were all discouraged but David encouraged himself in The Lord, he then inquired from God and God assured him that he will recover everything.

What Must You Do to Recover the Glory?

  • Know that You lost something and realize this is the time to recover what was lost. 1 Chron. 4:9-10
  • You must be dissatisfied with your current level. David did not accept defeat but consulted God
  • Make sure that God is involved. Peter brought Christ into his boat in Luke 5
  • Resist all the odds that may oppose your glorious ending
  1. Doubt. James 1:5-7
  2. Sin. Gen. 3
  • You must work hard – David was not passive but went into battle to recover.
  • Deal with every fear in your life
  • Don’t forget to “PRAY”

Steps to Recover the Glory

  • Go back “Home (The Father)” like the prodigal son.
  • Stop wailing and crying. It’s not a time for lamenting but a time to rise up. Joel 2:25

God bless you!
