Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.
Text: Matthew 28:18-20.
” 18 And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” KJV
Having benefited from our Lord’s sacrifice, it is mandatory we reciprocate this infinite gesture by going all out to rescue the perishing. We were saved to be a medium of salvation for others. Duty demands it that we partner with God in drawing souls to the kingdom.
“Go” – this is a command and the divine mandate to us as His believers. He assured us of His presence as we go to win souls. We have a mandate from our National Head Office (RCCG Americas) to win 200,000 souls for the Lord by June 2024. We are to bear witness to the World of His sacrifice, His blood, and everything He did and is currently doing to redeem fallen man back to God. There are souls perishing all around us – our neighborhoods, workplace, relationships, etc. Many are suffering for what Christ is the divine solution for.
We are “discipled” to disciple others. We are not to be “benchwarmers” in the Church but “soul-hunters” for Christ. 2 Tim. 2:2 – And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. The Gospel will not end at our time. God’s response to our prayers is often tied to our fruitfulness, especially in the area of winning souls. John 15:16. We should not be like the “dead-Sea” that receives but never gives out. We should be like the “Sea of Galilee” that receives and seeks to distribute to others, thus, it is always “fresh”.
The current situations of things (famine, inflation, conflicts, etc.) around the World suggest Nations are direly in need of Christ. Rev. 12:12 – “Therefore rejoice, O Heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
Benefits of Soul-Winning
A. As you go, God pours His Grace anew on you so as to use you to reach the ends of the Earth. God is still looking for vessels to use to turn multitudes back to Him.
B. As you go, God will make you experience the supernatural (signs & wonders) beyond your imagination. Mark 16:17-18
C. As you go, you are bringing the joy of Christ to many. Philip brought joy to a whole city through the Gospel
D. As you go, you will become light-bearers and Christ-ambassadors. Acts 4
E. As you go, you are fulfilling the great commission and God’s heart-desire
F. As you go, you will become a shining star. Dan. 12:3
How to be a Soul-Winner
- Make up your mind that you want to be effective in soul-winning
- Pray about it. Make it a priority to ask God for opportunities to win souls.
- Go and do it.
In closing, becoming a missional Church requires a deliberate action, we cannot afford to be complacent. It is time for us to rise as the salt that preserves the Earth, and the light that illuminates a darkened World. May God not replace us for our complacency and failure to “go” and rescue the perishing. The Church was set-up to do the mission and biddings of Christ. We are to tell the World, Christ died to reconcile humanity back to God. “Those who are wise shall shine. Like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness. Like the stars forever and ever.” Daniel 12:3.
God bless you!
