Text: Ephesians 5:19-20.
” 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.“ KJV
The Essence of a golden cup is gold, the essence of worship to God is Christ. Christ is the content of every true worship to God. Outside of Christ, God would have no interaction with man. Without Christ, man has nothing meaningful to present as worship to God.
By design, man is a temple where worship is to be offered to God continually. Man is a territory that is heavily contested for because he is the only creature that can operate legally in both the spirit realm and the physical realm. No Spirit being has legitimate authority to operate on Earth without a human vessel granting them access. Priesthood is basically a human being authorizing a spirit being to operate through him/her on the Earth. The goal of priesthood is worship.
Worship is an adoration of God’s person and works. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. All the Old Testament offerings of worship were pictures of Christ. Worship is more than songs of adoration to God, it entails a person’s entire lifestyle (thoughts, actions, words, etc.). And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Col. 3:17).
How Christ is Our Worship to God
- By Him were all things created – Col. 1:16
- Salvation is in no other name than His Name – Acts 4:12
- He is The Word that reveals God to Man – Matthew 11:27
- He is the center of Worship in Heaven – Heb. 1:6
- We have no meaningful identity outside of Christ – Gal. 2:20
No matter what you are going through, God has provided a solution for it in Christ. There is nothing new God will do for anyone that He hasn’t already accomplished in Christ on our behalf. It is by His stripes we are healed. It is by His death we have peace with God. He made Himself poor so we could be rich. He took our shame so we can have His glory. It is by His name, we pray and give thanks to God. It is by His spirit we fellowship with the Father. It is by His blood, We overcome Satan.
In closing, Everything Christ is, is for our worship of God. He is absolutely peerless, there is none like Him. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. And again, when God brings His Firstborn into the World, He says: “Let all God’s Angels worship Him.” Heb. 1:6.
