WHEN HELP ARRIVES.

WHEN HELP ARRIVES.

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: John 5:1-9.

After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.KJV.

Our prophetic theme for this year is “Massive Help”. Whether you want it or not, help will arise for you all through this year. Often times we feel trapped and boxed in certain hopeless situation, but the good news is that our God is the helper of the helpless. We all need help in one area or the other; often times our rising in life is a function of how much help we receive from Heaven and from human vessels. Man was created as a being to be ever dependent on God; for without Him we can do nothing. Psalm 16:11 tells us vain is the help of man; Jeremiah 17:5 also says “curse be the man that trusts in man and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.”

Our above text is a pathetic story of an impotent man who had been stuck in same spot because he had no helper. But on one faithful day God singled him out for mercy. God often shows up through unexpected sources.

Ways God helps us

  • God can show up for you as a provider. Jehovah Jireh for Abraham in Gen. 22:14.
  • God can show up for you as a way maker. He pathed the Red Sea for the Israelites. Exod. 14:21
  • God can show up for you as a protector. Daniel in the Lion’s Den. Dan. 6:22
  • God can show up for you as a sustainer. The widow in 1 King. 17:14-19

What Happens When Your Help Arrives

  • There will be a shift and the helpless shall find help. Isaiah 41:13-15
  • You will be like the smartest and most qualified person. Joseph in Gen. 41:14-16
  • Every long-standing problem will be terminated. 2 Kings 7:1
  • The lost years and opportunities will be restored. Joel 2:24-26
  • Stagnation ends. The impotent man’s 38 years stagnation ended
  • Labor loss ended, no endless hard labor again.
  • Healing, restoration and wholeness will be attained.
  • Long awaited testimonies shall be birthed.
  • Things that have been hard for you will no longer be hard for you. Psalm 126:1

What Must I Do to Experience The Help of God?

  • Position yourself in faith – never lose hope
  • Stay where God has positioned you, help will meet you there
  • Cry to God in prayer not to forget you in your situation. Blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46-49
  • Trust God for His timing, He never comes late. Eccl. 3:11
  • Be ready to serve God. After he was healed, Jesus found him in the Temple. John 5:14

In closing, as a child of God, realize there is a power that’s always backing you in life; live in the consciousness that God is your ever-present help in time of need. Also let your heart always be plain and pure before the Lord, never imagine evil against anyone.

God Bless You!
