BEHOLD, THE LAMB OF GOD.

BEHOLD, THE LAMB OF GOD.

April 2025 | The Month of Progress Without Limit | Palm Sunday

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Matt. 21:1-11.

1And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10 And when he came into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11 And the multitude said, this is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.KJV.

John 1:29-34 – “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

The Palm Sunday ushers us into the week of Passion – a remembrance of the Supreme price our Savior paid on the Cross. Christianity exists today because Jesus refused to back out of the agony in Gethsemane. Having conquered death, He has been given a name above every other name – He is the Savior of the world by reason of conquest of Satan and death.

Our above texts attest to the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies of a coming King, who would free God’s people from oppression and reconcile man back to God. Zech. 9:9-10 – Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: Behold, Thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. 10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

Christ has appeared to deliver us from every work of darkness. John the Baptist ordered everyone to hush and behold the Lamb that takes away the sins of the World. His birth was for His death. He came that He might lay down His life for us. The Colt’s purpose was to carry the Savior; we are like that Colt, ordained to be a vessel for Christ to manifest Himself on Earth. Jesus entered the Temple and was displeased that they were buying and selling in God’s Temple, which is supposed to be a house of prayer. Even so, as we offer our lives to Him, He drives out everything buying and selling in our body (which is ordained to be a Temple of God).

The Passover was a memorial in celebration of Israel’s exemption from God’s Judgment of their oppressor (Egyptians’ firstborns). A spotless Lamb was needed to be Israel’s ransom in the Old Testament, in the New Testament, God came in The Person of Jesus Christ to be The Lamb that takes away the sins of the world. The Lamb that takes away our sins is not an animal but the Highest Himself stooping to our lowly human nature to be our ransom – what height of love!

The Significance of Jesus riding on a Donkey

  • Jesus rode on a Donkey so to fulfill the Prophecy in Zechariah 9:9-10. Today, Jesus still comes to every heart opened to Him, bringing Salvation and Good tidings.
  • A Donkey signifies Peace as against war (Horse). Thus, Jesus riding a donkey means He is bringing all round Peace to your life. Isaiah 40:2.
  • He rode on a Donkey to put an end to all the controversies about your life. Our Life is to announce Christ as We carry Him as the Donkey did in Matthew 11.
  • He rode on a New Donkey never ridden before so that New Things could be happening in your life. Isaiah 43:18-19.
  • The Donkey was tied for a long time, awaiting the call of The Master. There are times it appears we are tied down but as We wait on Him, He will appear and ride on Us majestically to silence our mockers. The Master seem to be saying – “Loose it and bring it to Me to fulfill destiny”.

In closing, He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus is the Lamb that comes to give every man redemption, reconciliation to God, progress, divine order, God’s blessings, God’s Spirit and Eternity with God. Hosana means “come and Save us” salvation means to be rescued from destruction and everything contrary to God’s perfect will for your life. For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him. Col. 1:16.

 God Bless You!
