DIVINE VISITATION.

Text: Gen. 21:1-3.

“¹And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. ² For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. ³ And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.” KJV.

“Divine” means heavenly or emanating from God. “Visitation” means to come to you or to intervene in your situation. The bible is filled with people who God visited in supernatural ways:

• Adam & Eve (before the fall) experienced regular visitations from God – Gen. 3:8
• Abraham – God’s visitation signaled an end to a long period of waiting. – Gen. 18:1-2
• Sarah – God’s visited as He had said (Birth of Isaac). Gen. 21:1-3
• Hannah – God’s visited her, and she conceived and birthed Samuel. 1 Samuel 2:21
• Moses – This was a destiny restoration visit through a burning bush experience – Exodus 3:1-6
• Israel – Exodus 2:24-25
• Solomon – Upon offering an uncommon sacrifice, God visited and imparted him with “rare wisdom”. 1 Kings 3
• The virgin Mary – She consecrated herself, and thus was highly favored by Heaven – Luke 1: 26-28
• Jesus visited an impotent man by the pool of Bethsaida – John 5
• Jesus visited Lazarus – he was brought back to life – John 11

What happens when God visits – Miracles, Signs and Wonders happen every time God visits. Long standing problems are turned around when God visits.

God is a God of Restoration

• He doesn’t just visit but restores lost years, opportunities and virtues – Joel 2:25.
• God visits those who meditate on His word. Psalm 1:3.
• God visits those who are planted and committed to His kingdom. Psalm 92:12-14.
• God visits those with long-standing hopeless situations and singles them out for miracles. John 5
• Jesus all through the Gospel was always visiting the sick and the afflicted with His healing power.

For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.⁴ Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honorable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Isaiah 43:3-4

How to Provoke God’s Visitation

• Do not be weary, be persistent. The impotent Man waited by that pool until God visited him there. John 5:1-8
• Be found always doing good, especially to those of the household of faith. Gal. 6:9-10
• Be willing and obedient to His word. Deut. 28:1-2
• Calling upon Him. Matt. 11:28

In closing, Jesus was always doing good while He was here on Earth – “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil. 4:6.
