Ministering: Youths Week 2025: Questions and Answers.
Text: Joshua 24:14-16.
“14 Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. 16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods;” KJV
Faith and Foundation – Does temptation mean my faith is false? Temptation does not mean your faith is false, Jesus was tempted yet He was without sin. Heb. 4:15. In Romans 7, Paul narrates his struggle and battle between the flesh and the Spirit. The sinful nature is always at war against our new man in Christ.
Mental Health & Emotions – Is it wrong to take medication or go for therapy even if you have Faith in God? It is not wrong to go to the doctor even if you have faith in God. God is not against medicine; He created all things. Isaiah 38, tells us King Hezekiah was ill, yet he submitted to medical treatment after Prophet Isaiah gave Him God’s word of healing. Yes, we can use medicine and therapy though we are Christians. Luke was a Medical Doctor. Our faith should not be on the medication but on God. Also pray that there will be no negative effect from such medication. As we grow in faith, our need for medication would most likely decrease.
Purpose and Identity – I am a Christian and I still struggle to know my purpose, does God have a unique purpose for me? Yes, every one of us has a purpose from God. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us God has a good thought and plan for us all. God is not random; He is a very Intentional God. He created us for a unique expression of Himself on Earth. Our first purpose is to know God; by growing in His knowledge, We will discover our purpose and the different phases of it.
Suffering and Doubt – As Christians, how do I trust God during trials or challenging circumstances? Life is in Seasons; God is committed to seeing us through all the ups and downs of life as we look to Him. We need to always remember the promises of God. Jesus said we will go through tribulations in life but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world (for us) – John 16:33. Isaiah 40:31 also enjoins us to wait on the Lord and He will renew our strength. Galatians 6 says we will reap our harvest if we faint not. Psalm 23 also tells us the Lord is my Shepherd and I lack nothing. If you are going through any rough time, deep yourself in the word of God.
Culture – Yes, following God is right, but how do I still live my truth? The Bible tells us to deny ourselves, to take up our cross and follow Him. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Heb. 11:6. There is a grace available for us to live in the truth of the word of God. Whatever you consider as your truth, if it is contrary to the word of God, will lead to your downfall.
Does being on the Lord’s side mean I have to seclude myself from the secular World? Yes, but with caution. In John 17, Jesus prayed to God to protect us from the World – not to take us from the World. He sent us into the World to be a light in the midst of darkness (like Daniel in Babylon). We should never allow our Kingdom value system to be derailed while we are interacting with the World. We should become the influencer and not the influenced. We must heighten our sense of discernment while relating with the World. Jesus said we should be as wise as serpents and gentle as Dove. We can’t change a World we disengage from. We are the Salt of the Earth to preserve the world from decadence.
Can I support Political Ideology that conflicts with Scriptures? We should not support political ideology that conflict with Scripture. Peter said in Acts 5, that we should always obey God. Yes, Romans 13 enjoins us to submit to the Authorities in Government but in many cases, we have the right to vote out authorities that promote agendas that are contrary to the Kingdom values. 1 Timothy 2:1-3, enjoins us to always pray for those in power so we can live a peaceable life and not have to deal with policies that conflict with Scriptures.
Does struggling with sexual desire mean I am a bad person? No, it is when you do nothing to overcome that sexual temptation that makes you vulnerable to it. Let the word of God dwell in you richly. Sexual desire was created by God for Marriage. I Cor. 7. God is against every form of sexual sin (even pornography). 1 Pet. 5:8, says Satan is always seeking for every means to pollute our souls. If you are going through sexual struggles, seek Godly counsel, don’t keep it to yourself, find a trusted person who can help you overcome that monster.
How do I set boundaries in my relationship without being labelled as been too Holy? Setting boundaries is not about being too Holy, it is being scriptural. Prov. 4, tells us to guard our heart; we can’t guard our hearts without setting boundaries. Without boundaries, you are defenseless. There was a boundary in the Garden of Eden, and when Adam and Eve disrespected the boundaries God gave them, they were chased out of the Garden. Be wise and set boundaries with love especially with family members and friends. Be courteous and respectful when communicating your boundaries so that people know what you stand for. We are to be a reflection of Christ in everything. Jesus set boundaries all through His Earthly living, He ate with sinners but He had boundaries.
LGBTQ Community – Can a Christian be part of the LGBTQ Community? How can the Church relate them with love? LGBTQ came from the idea of sexual freedom with whoever a person wants. In Gen. 1, God created us Male and Female for a reason. God did not give us the right to choose our gender, He did. Romans 1:28 tells us those that since some people are unthankful God gave them up to a reprobate mind, doing what is shameful. 1 Cor. 6:9, also warns against the LGBQT ideology. We should not judge them but pray for them and preach the word of God to them. Hate the sin but love the person. We should not hate, disrespect them but show the love of God to them.
What is the point of going to Church if I can worship God on my own at home? The Church is a gathering of the Children of God. It is more than a building, it is divinity mingling with humanity. There is a congregational corporate anointing when we gather. Heb. 10, warns us against forsaking the assembly of the Saints. Ephesians 5 tells us the Church is the wife of Christ, meaning we honor Christ when we congregate. Christianity is a community; Jesus had 12 disciples, and He also said He will build His Church. Our body is one of the metaphor for the Church – no member of my body can exist by itself without union with the other parts.
God Bless You!
