August 2025 | Timely Mercy and Endless Compassion | Special Anointing Service
Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.
Text: 1 Samuel 10:1-8.
“1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said: “Is it not because the Lord has anointed you commander over His inheritance? 2 When you have departed from me today, you will find two men by Rachel’s tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say to you, ‘The donkeys which you went to look for have been found. And now your father has ceased caring about the donkeys and is worrying about you, saying, “What shall I do about my son?” 3 Then you shall go on forward from there and come to the terebinth tree of Tabor. There three men going up to God at Bethel will meet you, one carrying three young goats, another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a skin of wine. 4 And they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hands. 5 After that you shall come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is. And it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. 6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you. 8 You shall go down before me to Gilgal; and surely I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and make sacrifices of peace offerings. Seven days you shall wait, till I come to you and show you what you should do.” NKJV
The anointing of God makes you become “another man”. There is always a next level to whatever we have attained in life. God is the unchangeable Changer that changes destinies for the better. The anointing is one of the principal ways God changes our level in life.
What is the Anointing? Anointing is God’s divine seal of empowerment. It is God’s Hand resting upon a person for distinction in life. It’s also God’s Hand resting upon a man for preservation, elevation, healing and promotion. Ps. 23:5-6 – Thou anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
From our above text, there is an inheritance waiting to manifest after every anointing. The anointing makes manifest mantles and prophecies hanging over a person’s life. Also Anointing attracts great things into a person’s life. Like Saul experienced, people were favorable disposed to him everywhere he went. The anointing made Saul (a common citizen) to be a King in Israel. The anointing also made Saul to recover what had been lost in his life (the lost Donkeys). Saul experienced timely mercies after the anointing. The anointing also “refreshes” God’s grace upon a man.
Why the Anointing? Firstly, the anointing is for separation and commission for God’s special assignment. It ushers one into the next agenda of God for their life. Saul was set apart and commissioned to be King. Secondly, the anointing is for transformation (1 Sam. 10:6), it changes you from ordinary to extraordinary, thus becoming another man. Thirdly, the anointing preserves from all forms of evil. Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. Fourthly, the anointing is for empowerment – not by power nor by might, but by My Spirit says the LORD. It gives ability beyond human effort. Fifthly, the anointing is for mercy and favor. Mercy gives you more than you merit. Sixthly, the anointing equips you for service in God’s Kingdom. Luke 4:8, Isaiah 61:1-2.
Benefits of The Anointing
- Destiny is accelerated. What is lost will be found.
- It brings timely mercy. Ps. 102:13
- You get divine compassion. Esther was favored before the King. Esther 8:4
- It gives you victory over your enemy. Psalm 89:1-2
- It makes God’s Hand establish and strengthen you. Ps. 89:20
- Anointing makes you fruitful and experience overflow. Ps. 23:5
- Anointing brings restoration and breakthroughs
- Anointing breaks and destroys all yokes. Isaiah 10:27
Maximizing the Anointing – After the anointing, it’s important to guard the treasure you have received; value it and treat as sacred as it is not common. Lev. 8:12. Secondly, stir up the anointing you have received, do not allow it to be dormant. 2 Tim. 1:6. Thirdly, walk in obedience after the anointing. Saul lost the anointing through disobedience – 1 Sam.15:20-24. Fourthly, use the anointing to serve others like Christ did – Luke 4:18. Fifthly, the anointing is to empower you to live a holy life. Eph. 4:30. Sixthly, stay connected to the source of the anointing. Don’t let pride disconnect you from the source.
God Bless You!
