The Light in the Midst of Darkness.

The Light in the Midst of Darkness.

December 2025 | The Lord In The Midst of Thee is Mighty

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: John 1:1-5, John 9:1-5.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 9:1-5 –Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.NKJV

God is Mighty to save and to deliver. He is the light in the midst of darkness. There is hope for us in every situation because Jesus is the light of the world Who was sent to shine forth light in the midst of our darkness. He is a Light that darkness cannot comprehend. He is the Light that reveals God to a darkened world. God is not far from our dark situations, that darkness is actually a set-up for Him to manifest Himself as the true light that gives light to every man.

Wherever God appears, the situation always changes for good. When the Earth was without form, He came as light and a beautiful world emerged. No matter the confusion around you, realize that darkness has never overcome light, yours will not the first. When anyone opens his/her heart to the Lord, there is always a separation unto Him just as God divided the light from darkness in Genesis 1. Light does not wrestle with darkness; darkness simply disappears at the appearance of light. He was the pillar of cloud by day for Israel and pillar of fire by night for them. Exod. 14:19-21.

The Supremacy of Light over Darkness

  • When light comes, there is clarity in any chaotic situation.
  • Light is also a herald of joy – sorrow represents darkness. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
  • When light comes in, there will be direction. John 8:12
  • When light comes in, purpose is regained. John 9:6-7
  • When light shows up, that situation turns into a Testimony. Gen. 1:4

God in the Midst of Israel

  • He was the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night for them
  • Their enemies were afraid and confused and thus utterly destroyed – Exod. 14:25
  • As long as God was in their midst, provision never ceased – Exod. 16:35
  • As long as God was in their midst, victory was their lifestyle, no enemy could stand before them. Num. 10:35

What Robs Us of God’s Presence

  • Unfortunately, when Israel started sinning, God was no longer Mighty in their midst. Psalm 78:40-41
  • Murmuring and complaining robs us of God’s presence. Never disdain Him even in your heart. 1 Cor. 10:10.
  • Be spiritually sensitive and grieve not the Holy Spirit. Eph. 4:30.
  • Pride is also a tool the enemy uses to deprive us of God’s presence.

In closing, God’s presence is our greatest asset in life. Our smartness means nothing except we are led by His Spirit in all our ways.

God Bless You, richly!
