January 2026 | Living A Life Of Total Dominion
Ministering: Pastor Peter Olawale.
Text: John 5:1-9.
“1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. “NKJV
Our above text relates to an impotent man who had for 38 years been dominated with trials, impotency, sin and all works of darkness. But when Jesus met him, a greater pPower came to dominate his life. By God’s mercy, a day came the Liberator of the universe came to him and said “rise and walk” and immediately, the impotent man regained his freedom and dominion. Malachi 4:2 tells us how the Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings and visit His people. When God visits, He makes a divine pronouncement and declaration that changes one’s destiny forever. Psalm 107:20 says, God sends His word to heal and deliver His people from destruction.
In Matthew 9:28-29, The Light of the World came give sight to the blind. Sin and unbelief rob us of receiving from this Monarch of Zion. We need the grace to be patient to wait for God to carryout His purpose – may He meet us at the location of our miracle. The impotent man secured divine attention.
God is an all-knowing God, nothing about our life is hidden from Him. In Psalm 17:1 – the Psalmist was pouring his heart out to God. God’s divine attention always produces divine compassion.
Exodus 3:7-8 testifies of God’s compassion commanding His attention – He saw the afflictions of His people and said He has come down to deliver them. God’s attention is always followed by His immediate action. Matt. 15:32 – Jesus had compassion on the multitudes who had been with Him for 3 days without food – He fed them with abundance. Compassion and mercy are interchangeable.
Genesis 30:22 talks about God remembering Rachael and opening her womb to conceive. Divine attention will always produce divine compassion, which provokes divine actions that ultimately lead to your enemy’s total destruction. Exodus 15:9-11 – is a testimony of God’s power in delivering His people from their oppressors. The ultimate destruction of the enemy will produce the manifestation of miracles. Miracles are the appearance of those wonderful things we never thought could happen. When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, they were like them that dreamed.
2 Cor. 3:17-18 – There is liberty anywhere the Spirit of the Lord is and it is always from glory to glory as we continually behold Him. To kickstart your journey of dominion, the Lord must pay you a visit and make a divine pronouncement and decree upon your Life. After His pronouncement, you need the faith to believe Him for His immediate action.
Why did Jesus single this impotent Man out for a Divine Visitation?
Jesus knows every heart, He knew this man will come to worship Him in the Temple;
John 5:14 says Jesus found him in the Temple – meaning he didn’t abandon God but went to seek, worship and serve God in the Temple.
If the Lord delivers you from poverty today, where would He find you tomorrow? Many forget God after receiving their miracles.
God Bless You, Richly!
