Fulfilling Purpose.

Fulfilling Purpose.

January 2026 | Living A Life Of Total Dominion

Text: Genesis 37:1-11.

1 Now Jacob dwelt in the land where his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. This is the history of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the lad was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives; and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him. Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.” 10 So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” 11 And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.NKJV

God is a Specialist in using weak things or despised persons to accomplish great feats. Joseph was the least among his brethren, but He was the one ordained by God to carry the glory of Jacob’s family. He dreamt twice about God’s vision for his life and relayed it to his parents and brothers. David was also the youngest of his father’s household, yet he was the chosen one to carry the glory of the family. Gideon had the same experience. This tells us that God often uses the neglected to bring His purpose to pass on the Earth. You may be wondering how God will turn around that blemish in your life, but realize He is God and He specializes in turning any wilderness into Eden. You may be the least qualified, but with God on your side, the stone the builders rejected will become the cornerstone.

Ephesians 3:20 tells us God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think. God can do more than our prayer points. No matter how terrible your case is, God is great at giving beauty for ashes; He is the God of restoration and new beginning. Many times, we are limited by our thoughts and imaginations. Joseph was in his father’s house and that was all he knew, God had to enlarge his vision by giving him a dream that surpasses his father’s house. Look beyond your environment; remember God had to take Abraham out of the tent and asked him to count the stars in the sky (as far as your eyes can see).

What God wants to do in our lives far surpasses what we can imagine. His vision is always global (go ye into the World), while many times our own vision is often local. It is what we conceive in our hearts that will determine what comes out of our lives. God gives us His word so we can plant it in our hearts as a raw material that He can multiply to bring His purpose to pass. We should guard our hearts with all diligence specifically from unbelief and fear as they are viruses that abort God’s vision for our lives.

To fulfill God’s purpose, we must disassociate from people who seek to kill God’s vision for our lives. Jospeh’s brother thought they could bury Joseph’s dream by selling him into slavery, unfortunately they forgot God is sovereign and rules in the affairs of men; He is not a spectator in the universe. We should also jettison habits and lifestyles that could jeopardize our dream. Joseph overcame all manners of sin and temptations to fulfill his dream.

Joseph was prosperous even though he was in prison because he walked with God. He even helped interpret other people’s dream in the prison and that was the point of contact God used to bring him before the King. Never despise where you are now, that place may be the point of contact to your rising and promotion.

To Fulfill Your Purpose in 2026

  • You will need the continuous guidance of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8, Acts 10:38
  • Trust God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Prov. 3:5
  • Put on the whole armor of God because there will be warfare. Daniel 10:12-13
  • Live a life of gratitude (we never hear Joseph complained despite all the betrayals) – 1 Thess. 5:18
  • You will need to be bold (fear is a torment). 2 Tim. 1:7
  • Remember your past testimonies and use them as the bear and lion to cut-off that Goliath’s head

In closing, every Testimony came forth from a test. Every trial you go through is a seed for a testimony if you know how to handle it.

God Bless You, Richly!
