Enforcing Heaven on Earth – Walking in Authority & Power (pt. 2)

February 2026 | The Month of Walking in Authority and Power

Ministering: Senior Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Luke 10:17-20 & 1 Cor. 4:20.

17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.

1 Cor. 4:20,”20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.NKJV

We were redeemed to enforce Heaven’s authority on Earth. There are many anomalies around us and God expects us as His Kings and Priests to bring Heaven into every space on Earth.

Authority: Authority is the God given legal right and delegated permission to act, command, represent and enforce the will of a higher power. Authority is what gives us the legal right to act on behalf of a higher authority. Through redemption, the Lord Jesus Christ has already given us the authority to act in His name. Matt. 28:18-20.

Power: Power is the divine ability and spiritual capacity released by God that enables a believer to enforce authority that produces result and enforce change in the natural and spiritual realm. Acts 1:8. Power is the ability to change negative situations. Authority without power will lead to noise and frustrations.

Authority gives you the “Legal Right” while power gives you the “Result”. We all need a power that produces results. A Judge in a court room has the authority to give a verdict over a matter; the law enforcement agents are the ones saddled with the responsibility of enforce or execute the Judge’s order. In Acts 13:6-12, We see a display of power and authority against an agent of darkness (Elymas the sorcerer). Paul took charge of the situation and enforced Heaven on Earth. It is what you allow that manifests in your space. The more you know your authority in Christ, the less darkness will be able to rear its ugly head around you.

The Lord Jesus displayed power and authority in Luke 4:30-36 – “And they were astonished at His doctrine: for His word was with power. ….. and they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out. We are soldiers of Christ to stop the operations of the kingdom of darkness around us. Christ is always with us as We enforce His will on Earth.

Heaven is always ready to enforce our scriptural declarations over any matter. Angels hearken to the voice of His word.

Luke 10:19 – Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. As a child of God, whatsoever is pursuing you is actually afraid on you. We carry a light that darkness cannot comprehend. Do not be like the 7 sons of Sceva in Acts who were using the name of Jesus without authority – as they had no personal relationship with the Lord.

Without power and authority, what you are supposed to dominate will be dominating you. We can increase the level of power and authority in our lives through deeper communion with the Lord. We should be rooted and grounded in Him continually. In Acts 4:13 – they noted Peter and John had been with Jesus.
