Text: Mark 10:46-51 – And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.
The whole needs of mankind cannot deplete His Riches. Phil. 4:19 says But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Though God is so rich, He is ever looking for Vessels to dispense those Riches. That’s why He said ask and it shall be given to you.
If an earthly king can make an offer to Esther (Esther 5:6) of a blank check, how much more our Heavenly King? Romans 8:32 says “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
Lessons From Our Above Text
1. Jesus passed through Jericho with no recorded miracle, but on passing out of Jericho, Blind Bartimaeus heard of His passing-by, cried for His Mercy and the Lord hearkened.
2. Just like Blind Bartimaeus, many are spiritually blind, having no vision for their lives, the Lord is here this morning for you to cry out to Him to change your story.
3. We need to pray for the Lord to restore our Vision. Like a blind man, a man without a vision is grossly limited as he is ever dependent on people.
4. Blind Bartimaeus sat by the highway side, we could infer he was staying in a place where he could be seen publicly. In every Service, The Lord Jesus (The Head of The Church) is always passing by for His Believers to call onto Him.
5. Blind Bartimaeus was at the right place at the right time where Jesus was going to pass. I pray you will never miss your day of Glory. In Genesis 27:30, Esau due to carelessness missed his birthright blessing.
6. Just as Blind Bartimaeus was singled out of the crowd for Mercy, our prayer is that God will single you out for His Mercy.
7. Blind Bartimaeus connected to Jesus by faith, though he was without sight. Faith is our currency and connection to God Who can do all things.
8. Blind Bartimaeus praised and eulogized the Lord Jesus and he received his sight.
9. The Lord used the same people that discouraged him as a medium of His miracle as they were used to relay the message that the Lord is calling him.
10. Jesus asked him – what do you want Me to do for you?
God has brought you here to put an end to a life without vision and purpose.
There is an end to every situation and that end is now in The Name of Jesus. Just as The Lord made haste to help Blind Bartimaeus, May He make haste to help him. Ps 38:22 says “Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.”
