Text: James 1:22-25.
” 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
We are created to make impacts. We have many Fathers but very few Daddies. Being a Daddy is taking great responsibilities in raising children to fulfill their destinies. Daddies go the extra miles to discharge their calling as Fathers. It is going beyond the lines of duties for the sake of the Family. Someone once said, “It is easier for fathers to have children but it is much more difficult for children to have real fathers.”
There is no Father like our Heavenly Father. He is the Creator of all. He is Our God, Our Savior and The Most High. In Him all things consist. Psalm 100:3 says – Know that The Lord, He is God; It is He Who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His Pasture. Christ is The Father Who has had the greatest impact in the World. He raised 12 disciples that transformed the world. He gave us a New Birth, a New Life and His Spirit to live a life of Impact.
Every Father’s Day is a time to reflect on our roles as Fathers. It is a call to reevaluate or reassess whether we are fulfilling the expectations as Fathers. Our Lord taught us to pray to Our Father Who is in Heaven – Matt. 6:9-13. We are not a Father-less People, God The Most High is our Father. As Our Father, He is Our Source, Our Beginning and Our Ending.
Matt. 6:9-13 is like a Divine Template The Lord gave us of what our Fatherly roles are. We are the kings in the domain (our family is like a Kingdom) God has given us, we must reign very well. We must grow in the knowledge of who we are. Give us this Day our Daily Bread. As our Fathers, God gives you the Grace to provide for your family. As Fathers we are the source or root our children grow from. Keep us from evil ….. As Fathers, We are protectors and shepherds over our families.
It takes so much work to be a godly Father. A Father is like the foundation of a building that carries all the loads of the building, yet it is not seen. As Fathers we are not just the foundation of the building but also the pillars that hold the structure of the building, keeping it ever standing. Realize that every storm is an indication you are going somewhere great. The storm came when The Lord Jesus was crossing over to the other side.
Where there are absence of real Fathers, we see lots of gaps in the children and the society. God sees strength, competence and ability in You before He made you a Father. May You not disappoint Him! In Psalm 82:5, God calls you a god that ought to take charge of any situation in your family. Do not be too busy to take care of your wife and children. Do not be an absentee father. In the record of God, Timothy’s Father was absent.
God Himself is not an Absentee Father. Ps. 128:1-6 reveals God’s Blessing on real Fathers.
What Makes a Man a Real Father?
- Quality Leadership in the Family
- Stand in the place of Honor and Respect
- Acceptance of Responsibilities
- Following God with all Your Heart (Be the Priest of the House).
God is ever looking for Faithful Fathers who would give direction as well as display God’s Love to their Wife and Children.
In closing realize God will one day ask you this question in Job 40:7 – “Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.” May You not be blamed on that Day in Jesus Name. May You hear, Well done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant, enter into the Joy of Your Lord.
God Bless You!
