A True Expression of Gratitude

A True Expression of Gratitude

Ministering: Senior Pastor Shola Awobajo

Text:  Ps. 69:30-36.

30 I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with thanksgiving. 31 This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. 32 The humble shall see this and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. 33 For the Lord heareth the poor and despises not his prisoners. 34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and everything that moved therein. 35 For God will save Zion and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there and have it in possession. 36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.” KJV

Gratitude is a great virtue, most especially when tailored towards God. God has been good to all but not all deem it necessary to express gratitude to Him. We are kept by His power and mercy. God has the whole world in His hands and has never lacked the resources to care for all. God has been our provider, supporter, deliverer in the past 6 months, thus, worthy of our praise. There is no higher way of pleasing the Lord than a heart of gratitude.

A true expression of gratitude is saying thank you to God either in the public or private attesting to His goodness over your life. True expression of gratitude is an intentional act; it is not left to chance. It is laying it to heart to give glory God for everything. We cannot keep ourselves, God alone can. Not all your plans might have come to fusion, but it is unwise to complain for God has done more than whatever you may be murmuring about.

Believers in Christ Jesus are not in the camp of complainers, because God is able to make all things (good or bad) work together for our good. The will of God for us every day is giving of thanks – in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thess. 5:18.

Giving thanks is joining the Host of Heaven to eulogize the Most High. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”  Rev. 4:8-11. He created us for His Pleasure.

Benefits of Giving Him Thanks (from Ps. 69:30-36)

  • Your Heart will be preserved
  • God will hear Your cry
  • He will not despise You in the time of trouble
  • He will build You up
  • You will not lose anything. All your possession will be intact.
  • Your Children shall inherit the land

In closing, “Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in The Lord, I will joy in The God of my Salvation. The Lord God is my Strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills” – Hab. 3:17-19

God bless you!
