Text: Psalm 108:1-6.
” 1 O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. 2 Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. 3 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. 4 For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. 5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; 6 That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.” KJV
We owe our being alive today to the Living God. In His Mercy, He has kept us to see the New Year. Despite the rain, floods and winds, God has kept us standing. Matt. 7:25. The enemy made many attempts to plunge us into sorrow but for God’s intervention! In our above Text, the Psalmist said he will sing and give praise even with his glory. David laid it to heart to return the praise to God for it had not been by his own powers but God’s Mercy that has kept him still among the living.
God has promised us (IGA) “Wonders” this year because His Name is “Wonderful”. If God must manifest His wonders to us, then there must be a way for us to draw those wonders towards us – this is why We need to render praise to Him. Praise is the tool Paul and Silas used to provoke God’s wonders in Acts 16:25-27. Ps. 22:3 tells us praise is the environment God dwells in – “But thou art Holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” Praise is what brought wholeness to the one leper that came back to give thanks. May your attitude be like this one leper who never took God’s Grace for granted. In 2 Chronicles 20, We also see the power of the weaponry of Praise in destroying every conspiracy of the enemy against your life.
God is looking for a focused worship; a heart centered on God and God alone. Col. 3:2 says “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” God is looking for unwavering, God-centered worship even in the midst of the storms and pressures of life. At every time of trial this Year, God is still expecting your praise to still be steadfast. 1 Thess. 5:18, Job 13:15. God is looking for an enthusiastic worshipper. A self-motivated worshipper, whose jubilation is flowing from his heart. Ps. 150.
God is looking for people who will praise Him everywhere, not just in the closet but joyfully expressing His Goodness among the people and Nations. Ps. 108:2. God is looking for people who will offer Him praises that will glorify Him and Him alone; from Whom all blessings flow. Ps. 108:6.
In closing, resolve in your mind that you will worship Him despite whatever is happening around you. Praise is the best weapon to silence every enemy as it hands over your battle to the LORD.
God bless you!
