Be a Father.

Be a Father.

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: 1 Cor. 4:14-17.

“14  I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons, I warn you. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

We are here this morning to celebrate our Fathers. The Number 1 Father is Our Heavenly Father for all He has been doing in our lives.

Fatherhood is God’s given assignment for men.

Many are less than fathers in their homes. It is the child that The Father loves that he corrects, only a bastard rejects rebuke from a father.

From our above Texts, fathers are critical and very scarce. We may have many advisers, but not many fathers.  Fathers lead, give directions, and instructions in life. Paul was beseeching his spiritual children to be followers of him as he follows Christ. God places fathers upon our lives for a purpose.

No matter how knowledgeable you are, you still need a father in your life. Without fathers, children cannot be birthed. It is sad for a child never to experience their father’s love, instruction, and leadings. Some quarters in our society feel fathers are not essential in the home and development of the children; no wonder many ills in society.

Fathers are the source of our being. Fathers are the strength, competence, effectiveness, and foundation of everything that is good in a family. Many fathers are behind the bars in America and the effect is conspicuous in the family. We pray for The Lord to restore back our fathers and their homes. Fathers are protectors, sustainers, providers, benefactors, and procreators in a House.

What Happens when Fathers are not Present

1.     The home will be in chaos.

2.     There will be no directions; as none is there to take the lead. Gen. 18:19.

3.     There will be no continuity of God’s Plan on the earth. Gen. 1:26-28.

4.     The Family will struggle financially, morally, etc. Mothers are unable to be everything to the children.

5.     Abuse is inevitable.

6.     Society will suffer for it – hoodlums, prostitutes, gangsters, etc.

The Lord is calling men back home to their Divine responsibilities. Psalm 128:1-6 enjoins fathers to fear The Lord, walk in His Ways and God’s Blessings will inundate your home.

What does it take to be a Father? True Fathers take the lead at home –, especially in spiritual matters. You must stand firm and be courageous in any matter. 2 Sam. 11:1.

How to be a Father? Be a man of honor and respect. A Father is a man of Honor. Be a man who accepts the responsibilities of being a father. Follow God and submit all your problems to him. Be a man of Prayer.

The Life of Father is a critical and special assignment from God. The task is enormous but The Lord will give you abundant Grace not to fail in this assignment. God Bless You!
