Building A Christ-Centered Family.

Building A Christ-Centered Family.

Ministering: Senior Pastor Shola & Pastor (Mrs.) Lola Awobajo.

Text: Joshua 24:14-16.

14 Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. 16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods.

We live in an ever-changing world, and the challenges of parenting today is different from what it was 40 years ago. Despite the changing times, we should never turn away from serving God. God is a Family Man, He is not alone in Heaven.

A Christ-Centered Family is built, not wished for. Proverb 24 says … By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A Home is not built by money, beauty, pampering, but by The Wisdom of God. Giving gifts to our children is great, but building their character after Christ is one of the greatest thing we can do for them.

How Can We Build A Christ-Centered Family?

  • You have to be deliberate about it. It is a conscious effort.
  • Teaching your Children in the way of The Lord.
  • There must be law and order in the House. Disciplinary actions for misbehaviors.
  • Be a good example for them to model.
  • Commit and invest quality time with them.
  • Honesty and openness should be a must in the Family.
  • Create a forum for regular family discussions to communicate future plans.
  • The husband should love the wife and the wife respect and submit to the husband.  Eph. 5:19-22
  • Do not withhold sex from one another. 1 Cor. 7:1-3
  • Avoid undue interferences from extended family members.
  • Build an effective communication channel in the home. Have a platform where everyone can communicate freely and respectfully.
  • Avoid excessive time spent on social media.

In closing, let the love of Christ be the guiding principle in your family. Where there is no love, all manners of evil (strife, envy, etc.) show up. When you are one in the family, nothing you decide to do in one accord will be denied from your family. A Christ-centered Family is where Christ is formed within and making His Home in everyone’s heart in the family.

God Bless You!
