Calm in the midst of the Storm

Calm in the midst of the Storm

Ministering: Deacon Tunji Akinrinde.

Text: Matt. 24: 24-28.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.”

“And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”

The whole world is going through a storm but for us believers in Christ Jesus, we have a Storm Calmer Living in us. If Jesus can calm the Storm He can stop any virus. The Lord was berating the disciples for being fearful and confused in the midst of the storm. Jesus was in the ship, He was leading the disciples, they were not without a Shepherd. God is in your boat, there is no reason to fear. The Lord was sleeping in the midst of the storm because He is a Storm Calmer. Despite the storm outside it is just a signal that it is time to call on our God. God has not given us the spirit of fear, we have The Good Shepherd, The I am that I am.

From John 6:6, we can see that The Lord Jesus always knows what to do in all situations. From Matt. 24:21-22 we can infer that for the sake of the elect, God will shorten the days of any storm. It’s a clarion call for the world to be drawn to God. Jeremiah 17:5 – Thus saith The Lord. Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

It is not a time to look to men but to God Alone. Our God is the Only One to deliver without using any vaccine.

He said none of these plagues will come to our Dwelling Place. In Acts 27:18-25, there was a big storm that threatened the lives of those in the ship with Paul, but God secured the lives of everyone for the sake of Apostle Paul. Despite what is going around, Jesus is still in our boat, hence, no need for fear. Others may be fearful but God’s expectation from me is to rest in His Faithfulness. This is what brings hope.
