Text: John 8:31-36.
” 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house forever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
True Freedom is found only in Christ. As sons of Abraham, we are the ones to experience true Freedom. Today as a nation, we are celebrating 244 Years of America’s Freedom. America was built by the founding fathers on The Bible. The U.S Constitution was patterned after Biblical principles by the founding fathers. Unfortunately, future generations derailed and started introducing anti-God principles in the constitution. For example, Prayer was taken out of schools, laws that encourage same-sex marriages, racism, etc. This nation truly needs true liberation.
Physically, this land is the freest nation but spiritually, many are still in the captivity of the devil. True Freedom comes by abiding in the principles of The Word of God. The situation of America is like the Church of Laodicea (Rev. 3:14), The Lord was reproofing them for their spiritual warmness and cockiness; they were seeing themselves as rich lacking nothing.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev. 3:17-19.
Many are pursuing the American Dream instead of seeking God’s purpose for their lives.
True Freedom is inwardly than outwardly. A man could be free outwardly, yet bound inwardly to the powers of darkness. In John 16, The Lord gave us His Peace so that our hearts will not be troubled. Christ came to give us life so we could experience True Freedom. His Divine Life is the catalyst to True Freedom.
The Gospel of Christ brings True Freedom and Joy into the human heart. As Christians, we are not just celebrating the freedom of the United States of America but also celebrating and thanking God for the freedom of our spirit, soul, and body through Christ’s Redemption. True Liberty is in Christ Jesus, for where The Spirit of The Lord is there is Liberty. 2 Cor. 3:17.
Christ passed through Death to forgive our sins so we could have True Freedom. As believers in Christ, our True Joy is that He is coming back again to take us to where He is to spend our Eternity with God.
