Christ as Our Foundation.

Text: 1 Cor. 3:11.

“¹¹ For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” NKJV

Christ is everything to us in the Christian faith. He is not only our food, light and life, He is also our sure foundation. Christ is a stone-savior. He is the living Stone, a cornerstone, a capstone, a precious Stone, a stumbling Stone and also a foundation Stone. God has made Christ our foundation because we are God’s house. 1 Cor. 3:9. 

New birth is a change of foundation from Adam to Christ. In Adam, we inherited sin, death and darkness; in Christ, we inherited God as our life. Faith is to be more conscious of our inheritance in Christ than what we inherited from Adam and our biological lineage. It is as our foundation, Christ is our all in all – our righteousness, our wisdom, our strength, our light, our victory etc. We are healed by His stripes because He is our foundation. All things are ours because He is our foundation.

As a foundation is inseparably one with its building, so are we eternally one with Christ. As our foundation, the whole weight of our salvation rests on Him. Matthew 7:24-28 – Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain, the floods and the winds of life will come to everyone; the goal is to expose the kind of foundation each person has built his or her live on.  

We are kings and priest of God because Christ became our foundation. As His priests, He indwells us so as to continue His ministry on Earth. He seeks to be enthroned as King in every heart and territorial space. A priest is one who gives earthly permission for heavenly interference. Priests are gate-keepers of families, cities, nations. They are the gateways of spirit beings. Priests connect Earth to Heaven or Earth to Hell. The Earth was created to be a mirror of Heaven. So a priest of God should be continuously downloading the King’s will and praying for it to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

In the Eyes of God, the Cross is where our origin began, that’s where you lost touch with the old creation and then came into the reality of a new creation. As our foundation, where He is, there we are also. According to scripture, the only thing that was remembered about you as a redeemed is from the Cross. Baptism wiped out our past and backdated our existence to the Cross. All those negative past were deleted the day you gave your life to Christ. Though victory has been secured on the Cross, as priests we rise as Kingdom law enforcement agents and fight the good fight of faith to dislodge the enemy and obtain our glorious inheritance in Christ Jesus. We must be continually armed with the truth to walk in the reality of the new creation.  

In closing, Christ is the greatest repairer of faulty foundations. He alone can give beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61). He said in Isaiah 45:22 – ““Look to Me, and be saved (marvelous helped), All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. His Cross is the foundation of prayer to God and victory over Satan and his kingdom.
