Christ Is The Good Land!

Christ Is The Good Land!

Ministering: Pastor Wole Olubajo

Text: Deut. 8:7.

” 7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills.” KJV

The Whole Old Testament is a story of the good land. The good land like many other things in the Old Testament was typifying Christ. The good land in the New Testament is not a place but a person.

The promise to Adam in Genesis 3 was the seed of the woman. The promise to Abraham wasn’t just the seed, but also the land. The seed promised in Genesis 3:15 becomes the land in Genesis 12:1. Christ is both the seed and the land of God. Everything that God prepared for mankind is concentrated in the land. God’s eternal purpose is to bring His children into the enjoyment of Christ. The land is but a figure of Christ as everything to us. In the promise land, they built God’s temple; built houses, planted food, extracted water and minerals buried underneath. Christ is the true temple, true house, true food, true water, true treasure hidden underneath.

Our inheritance is not a visible possession but an invisible possession. Israel’s inheritance was about getting into a physical land, our inheritance is about getting into a person. Worship to Israel was from a Holy land, worship to us is from a person (John 4). It is of God that you are in Christ Jesus (1 Cor. 1:30). Christ is the good land; God is seeking to bring His children into. Heaven itself is not our good land per se; Christ is our good land. Whom have I in Heaven but you? Ps. 73:25a. Heaven itself is not so valuable and precious as Christ is.

Christ is the good land because

  • He is the Grace of God
  • He is the Wisdom of God
  • He is the Righteousness of God
  • He is the Dwelling of God
  • He is the Power of God
  • He is the Love of God
  • He is the Fountain of Life
  • He is the Light of God
  • He is the One who gives True Rest (Heb. 4:8-9)
  • He is the Reality of The Holy City – The New Jerusalem (Rev. 21 & 22)

He is the good land because He was made a curse for us; the chastisement of our peace was laid on Him; and by His stripes we are healed. Lord, you have been our dwelling place from generation to generation – Ps. 90. He is the better country the patriarchs were desiring – Heb. 11. Col. 2:3 tells us in whom are hidden are the treasures of wisdom & knowledge. He said in John 15, abide in me and I in you.

In closing, “as you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” – Col. 2:6-7.

God bless you!
