Text: Gen. 21:1-7.
” 1 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. 4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. 6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. 7 And she said, who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.“ KJV
Abraham was visited by God in Gen. 18, and the manifestation came in Gen 21. A manifestation is when God leaves His throne to attend to your matter. Divine visitation is the intervention of divinity in the affairs of humanity. God can come in 3 principal ways – By Himself (Ps. 22); by sending Angels (Heb. 1:14); and by sending men (Gen. 18:9-14).
What Happens When God Visits?
- When God visits, He speaks (Gen. 18). When He came to Zacchaeus in Luke 19:5-9, salvation came to his house
- When God visits, He touches. He touched Sarah’s dead womb and Isaac came from it. He touched Elijah and his life was never the same. 1 Kings 19:4-9. He touched a blind man, and he could see for the first time John 9
- When God visits, He gives you speed. He gave Elijah speed to outrun Ahab. 1 Kings 18:46
- When He visits, He heals. He healed the impotent man in John 5:1-9. He touched Peter’s mother-in-law and healed her. Matt. 8:14-16
- When God visits, He turns lack to abundance. John 21:1-6, He came to visit Peter and an all-night of toiling came to an end with net-breaking catch. Through a prophet, God turned a widow’s misery to a testimony. 2 Kings 4:1-7
- When God visits, He blesses. He blessed the House of Obed-Edom in 2 Sam. 6:11-12; He blessed Jacob in Gen. 32:22-31.
- When He visits, He brings dead back to life. He raised a widow’s son from the dead in Luke 7:11-16. Also, in John 11:30-34, He raised Lazarus from the grave.
How can You Provoke Divine Visitations

- Forsake your sin – Prov. 28:13
- Believe in Him, His word and His prophet – 2 Chron. 20
- Invite Him by calling on Him – Ps. 50:15
- Give Him quality praise – Ps. 22, Acts 16:25
- You may have to put a sacrifice on the Altar. 1 King 3:4-5
God bless you!
