Text: 2 Kings 6:24-30.
” 24 Some time later, Ben-Hadad king of Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria. 25 There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels[a] of silver, and a quarter of a cab[b] of seed pods[c] for five shekels.[d] 26 As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, “Help me, my lord the king!” 27 The king replied, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?” 28 Then he asked her, “What’s the matter?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we’ll eat my son.’ 29 So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, ‘Give up your son so we may eat him,’ but she had hidden him.” 30 When the king heard the woman’s words, he tore his robes. As he went along the wall, the people looked, and they saw that, under his robes, he had sackcloth on his body.”
Our God is a God of Possibility Who turns sorrow into dancing. Nothing is irreversible with our God; everything is possible with Him. There is no impossibility in His Dictionary. From Genesis 1 and although The Bible we see Him reversing works of darkness into Testimonies. God is a God of Order Who does not like to dwell in disorderliness.
Our above Text is a gruesome story of famine in the land to the extent women were killing their children to eat as food. The king in his predicament said if God does not help, he could do nothing. Amidst the chaos, a Word of Hope came from Heaven that the siege and famine are over.
We are products of “The Word” – not only were we created by The Word, God also reverses dark situation to Light by sending us His Word. Part of the reason we are in The Church is for God to send His Word over any distasteful situation. After God sent His Word through His Prophet, the official who doubted and spoke in unbelief did not experience the abundance. One of the lesson here is that never speak contrary to whatever God has said because His Ways are not our ways and His Thoughts are not our thoughts, all we need is to believe what He says even if makes no sense to our mind.
God promised Abraham that his descendants would be like the stars though his present situation appears a barren one. God visited Abraham in Gen. 18 and gave His Word that the time for his fruitfulness had come and Sarah would no longer be termed be barren as she would have a son. God’s Word came to pass. The God of Possibility is able to turn barrenness into fruitfulness regardless of old age. Gen. 18:14 – Is there anything too hard for our God?
For Things To Turnaround
1. Never doubt The Word of God
a. Remove unbelief from your life.
b. Unbelief questions the Truthfulness of The Word of God.
c. Unbelief makes you to lose God’s Blessings and Provisions.
2. Understand that God’s Word has enough Power to get done what needs to get done. Isa. 55:10-12, Heb. 4:12x
3. God can use insignificant things to achieve His Purpose.
4. Fear will rob you of your miracle and turnaround.
5. Understand that God’s Promises are Yes and Amen! 1 Cor. 1:20
In closing 2 Chronicles 20:12, we see a great prayer to God – “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
God Bless You!
