Text: Gen. 24:10-16.
“10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. 11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. 12 And he said O Lord God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. 13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: 14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master. 15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. 16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.“
There is nothing we do in life that do not need Divine Speed. Our above Text is the story of Abraham’s Servant’s journey to get a wife for Isaac. The Servant prayed to God for good speed and God responded with good speed.
As the Seed of Abraham in Christ Jesus, you also have a divine assignment to be a solution in the world; thus, you need divine speed to fulfill that mandate. Speed in the wrong direction is terrible; thus, we need to first pray for The Lord to open our eyes to His next assignment for our lives.
In whatever situation you are going through, God will appear for you in good speed. Life will always present circumstances our way that our speed or ability cannot handle. Never forget, it’s not by power nor by might but by The Spirit of The Lord. Grow is the process of upward increase in size to bring into abundance and enlargement of coasts, capacities and territories. Our lives are like containers and thus, need expansion of capacity.
Speed is moving quickly before a definite goal. It is an acceleration of motion towards a defined destination. There are different kinds of speed:
- There is slow speed (crawling). This is when your level of acceleration is not commensurate to your in-built capacity. Slow speed is not God’s heritage for His Redeemed. Slow speed is not associated with Eagles or Lions.
- Normal Speed – this is when a person is barely making it. Going a day at a time.
- Jet Speed – this is a very rate of speed. It enables early arrival than normal speed.
- Supersonic Speed – It is the rate of travel of an object that exceeds the speed of sound. Only God can give supersonic speed. This is Divine Speed. Like when The Hand of God came upon Elijah and he outran the chariots. This is our heritage in Christ – accomplishing our assignments at the speed of light.
Things the Enemy Uses to Slow People’s Speed:
- Sin – Judges 6:1-2.
- Always recalling the pains, mistakes and guilt of the past. Forgive yourself and move forward. Ps. 137:1, Phil. 3:14.
- Distractions will slow you down. Anything short of The Voice of God is simply “market noise”. Be focused where you are going. Matt. 6:22.
- Fear will slow you down. Someone said F.E.A.R is an acronym for “false expectation appearing real”. The 4 lepers did not let fear hinder their movement to abundance.
Instruments of Speed;
- Be diligent and remain faithful to God all the way. The King’s Business demands diligence and haste. 1 Sam. 21:8
- Praise will enhance your speed in life. Jos. 6:20, 2 Chron. 20:22
- Be watchful and Pray without ceasing. The story of the unjust Judge in Luke 18:1-8
- Meditating on The Word of God will grant you speed. Jos. 1:8
1 Kings 18:45-46 – Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. And The Hand of The Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
God Bless You!
