Hope of Glory

Hope of Glory

Text: Colossians 1:27 – God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

What is Glory? Glory can be defined as the manifested Presence of God. God created man to be an expression of His Glory; because we are created in the image of God so therefore we are meant to be glorious. But after Adam sinned, the glory departed from mankind and what was left was shame, reproach and all manners of evil. Shame is the opposite of glory. Though the glory departed through Adam’s sin, but thank God, the Glory came back through our Lord Jesus Christ dying on the cross and resurrecting to restore God’s Glory to us. John 17:22-24

There is no Glory outside of Christ.

Without Christ we should forget about the Glory of God. Only those in Christ are qualified to experience Glory.

You are either in Christ or in Adam. In Christ we enjoy God’s Glory, in Adam is shame and every work of darkness.

We all were once in Adam but through the death and resurrection of Christ our position was changed from sinners to the children of God and the salt of the earth.

Who are those qualified for The Glory of God? Only those who have made Jesus The Lord of their life. John 17:20 – “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message”

Why Do We Need The Glory of God?
a. The Glory of God is our heritage or right as Children of God – John 17: 10 – 11 “All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your Name, The Name you gave Me, so that they may be one as We are One.”
b. The Glory of God is what makes us the light of the world. Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
c. We need God’s Glory as a defense and protection from the devil. Ps. 91: 1 – 7

How do we experience more of the Glory of God? By studying and mediating on The Word of God day and night. 2 Cor. 3:18 – “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate The Lord’s Glory, are being transformed into His Image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from The Lord, Who is The Spirit.
