Hosanna Worship.

Hosanna Worship.

Ministering: Pastor Olusegun Joseph.

Text: Psalm 95:1-3.

1 O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.KJV

Gratitude should be our attitude as children of God. Our default nature should be thanksgiving in everything. Our attitude determines our altitude in life. Ps. 100:4 enjoins us to enter into His gates with thanksgiving. Jesus said in John 3, that if He is lifted up, He will draw all men to Himself. Your thanksgiving is your access to God. God can resist sin but will never resist praise.

Types of Worship

A Casual Worship – this is the worship of an ingrate. They believe in themselves and their abilities by arrogating anything good to themselves – like their fasting, prayers, and self-righteousness etc. They don’t praise God with understanding.

A Compelling Worship – this happens when the unexpected happen and a person has no choice but to worship God. They wait for something to happen before offering thanks to God. Job 1:17; 13:15

A Sacrificial Worship – this is offering to God something of quality (not quantity per se) – 1 Chron. 23:25. This kind of worship costs the giver something – maybe time, resources, energy, etc. The situation or condition may not warrant thanksgiving, but the person still goes ahead to give thanks to God regardless of the negative situation (like at the Tomb of Lazarus).

Hosanna Worship – This is a situation when Jesus enters into Jerusalem and praise was being offered from every angle. This is the kind of worship God expects from us, it is a worship of celebration, jubilation and decoration. It is the worship of acknowledging and declaring the Majesty of God. Mark 11:1-10. The Colt is like us – we are to allow the Master ride on us. The Colt was being honored because Christ was on it. The moment the Master left the Colt, we didn’t hear anything about the Colt again.

In closing, Psalm 149:3 enjoins us – “Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.”

God bless you!
