Text: 2 Kings 7:1-8.
“ 1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. 2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. 3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? 4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. 5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. 6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us. 7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life. 8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.”
After God vindicates His Own He opens His Treasure unto them. When He vindicated Hannah, Joseph, and Paul & Silas, His Treasure was opened unto them and they became objects of envy to their adversaries.
As a result of this Pandemic, many have lost certain treasures, God is giving us a message of hope in the midst of Hopelessness, a message of life in the midst of death, a message of healing in the midst of sickness, a message of restoration in the midst of decline. 2 Chron. 7:14
A siege is a military operation where the enemy surrounds a city blocking all essential supplies with the aim of causing them to surrender. There was a siege in the city of Samaria causing a famine but God intervened and turned the situation around. A siege is also a profound period of misfortune and famine in one’s life.
The above Text is about the ordeal and famine in the city of Samaria due to the enemy besieging the land. No man can help you as God would. He is The Helper and Rescuer of The Helpless. God sent His Prophet (Elisha) to decree The Word of Restoration and within 24 hours there was a Turnaround in the City. The Story here is a lesson of Change and how our totality is in The Hands of God. It also reaffirms The Final Word in any situation is from God, not a doctor, or politician. It also affirms there is an Unbreakable and Enduring Word of God concerning your life’s preservation. It also strengthens our belief that the Promises of God are unchangeable. He never reneges concerning His Word. Numbers 23:19.
This is a Change Story that God can replicate in any believer’s life. The 4 Lepers were the instrument of restoration for the whole City. This means God can use anyone even if they appear insignificant to open His Treasure to You. Ps. 30:5 says weeping may endure for the night, but Joy comes in the morning. Within 24 Hours, God honored His Prophet’s decree and there was great Joy in Samaria according to The Word of The Lord. Lack had turned to surplus.
Isaiah 62:4 – You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the Lord delights in you, And your land shall be married.
Isaiah 54:4 says “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;
For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.
Deut. 28:12 – The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
Joel 2:25-27 – “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.”
In closing, no matter how gloomy the situation may appear, recognize that God is a Restorer, He will not only vindicate you but also open His Treasure unto You. The Help of The Lord is never far, He hastens to perform His Word over your life.
God Bless You!
