Text: Isaiah 9:5-7.
“5 For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle, and garments rolled in blood, will be used for burning and fuel of fire. 6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this..” NKJV
Fathers are universal and are everywhere. Father basically means “source”. A responsible father provides, protects and acts as a role model by taking responsibility for his family.
A father is a unique personality, an entity that deserves every mark of respect. Fathers are expected to be worthy Ambassadors of God. God is the Everlasting Father that supersedes all fathers, He is a faultless Father that meets the needs of His children. All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, thus, there is no human everlasting father. Every human father has his own defects, none is faultless or perfect. God alone is an everlasting and faultless Father. God as Father takes utmost care of His children. God is a Father that seeks to bond with His children.
Matthew 7:9-11 – If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? John 1:12 – But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.
Every earthly father has his own inherent limitations and weaknesses but not so with God, He is a perfect Father. Having God has your Father gives you access to certain rights and privileges. God’s blessings for His children are not automatic, they are experienced by those who align with the Scriptures. Believing is not enough, compliance with God’s Word is critically important. Matt. 17:5 – While He yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him. Every True Child of God lives a surrendered Life to The Lord Jesus Christ.
In closing, “But He answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs” – Matt. 15:26. Behold what manner of Love The Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called Children of God! 1 John 3:1.
