Text: Psalm 91, Gen. 1:1-5.
Psalm 91: “1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation”.
Gen. 1: 1-5: ” 1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first days.”
All around the world, there appears to be pandemonium due to the Corona Virus. Light is always the answer to the darkness. Anything that threatens our existence could be termed as darkness. In Gen. 1:3, God used Light to dispel the threatening of darkness. Cities, nations, Governments, and experts all over the world are experiencing difficulties on how to deal with the coronavirus. As Christians, we need to be praying continually for God to be merciful and help restore order to the world. Let there be Light means let there be order, let every darkness vanish. This temporary pandemonium could also be a clarion call for all to turn back to God.
By His Grace this wickedness will be temporary for Psalm 30:8b says “…… Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning”. According to Psalm 91, as a believer, there is an exemption for you from every noisome pestilence. When darkness came upon Egypt, the people of God in Goshen were exempted from the pestilence.
If there are no problems, there could be no testimonies. Problems often give birth to testimonies. This situation should be an opportunity for all to draw closer to God.
In John 9, The Lord restored sight to the blind man. We need to see this season as a time to reconnect with God. Also, The Lord shined His Light on the mad man of Gadara and turned him to an Evangelist. After this deluge, we pray every one of us would have experienced God anew and be a vessel to minister Christ everywhere.
