Text: Daniel 6:1-5.
“1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom a hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; 2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. 3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. 4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom, but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.“
Our God is a Consistent God; He is consistent from Eternity Past to Eternity Future. Heb. 13:8 says, Jesus Christ The Same, Yesterday, and Today and Forever. As Christians, we are expected to be consistent in our faith work. Man is naturally inconsistent. The Immutability of Our God is Unquestionable. James 1:17:
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning..
Psalm 68:9 – Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
What does it mean to be Consistent?
God is ever calling His Children to share the same attribute with Him in being consistent in our lives. He is calling us to a life of righteousness and steadfastness. Phil. 1:27 – Only let your conversation be as it becometh The Gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of The Gospel. Regardless of the happening on the outside, we are to maintain our consistent Christian life – whether in abundance or in little. Eph. 4:1-2 – I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.
Without a doubt, we are living in a trying and challenging time (COVID-19 Pandemic), but we are to still be consistent in our Christian Faith. In every calling God has called us, we are not to relax in such a time like this but to rise up to the challenge.
To be consistent also means to be unchanging over time. Additionally, it means to be constant, reliable, and maintain a particular stand. Heb. 10:37-39 – For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition, but of them, that believe to the saving of the soul. Romans 8: 35-39
Zechariah and Elizabeth were consistent and God rewarded them with John despite their age. God is looking for people that are consistent, constant, dependable, and immovable. He does entrust great anointing, revelations, and successes in their hands because He trusts their steadfastness regardless of what is happening around them. God will always appear, stand, and comes through for everyone that is constant with Him. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are examples. Joseph is also another example, he refused to sleep with Potiphar’s wife.
How do I Set Myself on the Part of Being Consistent:
1. Set Boundary – Daniel purposed not to spoil himself with the king’s meal.
2. Be committed to the standard of God
3. Ensure you stand out as the Light in every environment you find yourself. Matt. 5:15-16
4. Pray for Strength on a daily basis. Ps. 73:26
5. Daily yield yourself to God. 1 Cor. 9:27
Benefits of Being Consistent:
1. Your Bond with God becomes strengthened and stronger.
2. You are guaranteed a place in The Heart of God.
3. The Eyes of God will be upon such at all times.
4. Consistence makes your going to Heaven a Reality. Rev. 7:13-14
In closing, Rev. 22:10-11 – And He saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
