Text: Proverbs 27:17.
17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” KJV.
In construction, an Iron is a piece of metal that plays a very important role; every wise builder relies on it to make fanciful structures. There is no lasting structure that is built without an iron. Likewise in the Christian-fold, iron plays a very crucial role too.
The importance of an Iron in construction could be summarized into 3 broad categories:
- It provides strength and durability to every structure
- It provides reinforcement to other materials (like supporting the concrete)
- It can resist the harshness of any weather.
Biblically, God expects all Believers to be an iron –
- We are to help support one another.
- We are to help strengthen the Body of Christ.
- We are to provide cover from the harshness of the world.
Are you an iron or a wood in the body of Christ. Rev. 3:12 says – “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God”. Iron is what is used in making a pillar. Without being an iron you cannot be a pillar.
Benefits of Partnering with an Iron
- An iron will help you to stand out in the day of trouble. 1 Pet.1:7
- An iron will lift you up – Aaron and Hur were the Iron that helped Moses. Exod. 17:12
- An iron will help make you a pillar in Heaven. Rev. 3:12
