Text: Mark. 4:35-41 .
” 35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? “
We serve a God in Whom everything listens to. The living and non-living have ears that harken to The Voice of our God. Creation came into being through the Speaking of God. God is still speaking today; He is still in the business of calming every storm in the life of His Children.
Our Above Text is the account of Our Lord enjoining His Disciples to come with Him to the other side. Normally, the night is not the best time to travel because of the imperfect visibility. But because Christ is in the boat, the night and its perils had no power over their sojourning. You may be in the night season, I counsel you to look and call on The Lord. Another lesson from our Text is that whenever one is about to “cross-over” to another phase of their destiny, there may be storms we must be ready to confront and silent.
The joy for us is that in the midst of any storm, as believers The Lord is always in our boat we can call upon. Rev. 2:10. In John 16:33, Christ tells us we would have tribulations but we should be of good cheer, for He has overcome the world.
Peace is a state of mental and emotional calmness. It is to be unruffled and unperturbed regardless of what is happening. Peace is not the absence of trouble but the very Presence of God in the midst of any trouble. Christ is The Peace that calms every storm.
The Psalmist in Psalm 27 tells us, “The Lord is My Light and Salvation, whom shall I fear?” No matter what you may be going through, as a child of God, that trouble is to end in praise. Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God and in The Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Things to Remember in The Midst of Any Storm
1. Remember and believe His Word – Heb. 4:12, Ps. 37:4-5
2. Remember and trust in His Name (The Prince of Peace) – Prov. 18:10, Phil. 2:10
3. Remember and trust in His Presence (no boat capsizes when Christ is in it) – Matt. 28:20
4. Remember and trust in His Blood – Rev. 12:11
In conclusion, our God neither slumbers nor sleeps, be at Peace! John 14:27 – My Peace I give unto you not as the world gives, let your heart not be troubled neither let it be afraid.
God Bless You!
