Text: John 14:1-4.
“1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
The above was given by The Lord Jesus in preparation for His departure from the earth. Hitherto, He had been virtually everything to His Disciples and now He breaks the news of His departure. Humanly speaking, this would be a troubling time for His Disciples, hence, He comforted them by telling them, they should not allow their hearts to be troubled. Presently, there appears to be darkness all over the earth because of the Coronavirus. We are indeed in a troubled time due to the inability of meeting physically to fellowship. This is due to the unseen battle (Coronavirus) the world is presently fighting. This unseen battle has no respect for the rich or poor, social status, race, young or old, profession, Governmental bodies, etc. But for us in Christ, The Word of The Lord is – do not let your hearts be troubled. We serve The Prince of Peace and the whole world is deeply in need of Him at this period.
Peace is a state of mental and emotional calmness. Peace is not necessarily the absence of trouble but the presence of God in the midst of trouble. To Believe means to accept the Truth and to be confident and hold on to that Truth. The Word of God is The Truth. In this season, like never before, fill your heart with God’s Word and believe in The Lord.
1. Believe and hold on to The Word. John 17:17 says Sanctify them by Your Truth. Your Word is Truth. The Word of God is The Truth that preserves in troubled times. His Truth guarantees us exemption from pestilence and any kind of pandemic ravaging the world. Acts 27:21-25 gives an account of how God delivered Paul and everyone in the ship from a terrible storm. Paul believed The Word of God and there was no loss of lives.
2. Remember and Trust His Name. The Name of Jesus conquers death, hence no virus has the ability to resist Its Authority. Phil. 2:11 – Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at The Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God The Father.
3. Remember and Trust in His Presence – Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen – Matt. 28:20
4. Remember The Blood of Jesus. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt – Exodus 12:13. Heb. 13:12, Rev. 12:11
How Can We Sustain Our Peace:
1. Have a deeper relationship with Him in this time of Trouble. Know Him intimately – John 16:13
2. Be very Prayerful – Phil. 4:6
3. Have absolute trust in Him. Matt. 11:28-30
4. Be far away from sin. James 4:7-8
5. Know and note the trick of the Devil – fear is his principal tool. John 10:10
6. Think Faith and be Positive. Romans 8:28
7. Be thankful – Phil. 4:6
8. Be a Practical Christian. Phil. 4:9
In closing, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27
