Text: Psalm 126:1-6 –“When The LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us, And we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.
There is a Praise that delivers Good Tidings to a person. This is our month of Thanksgiving and Good Tidings as a Church. There is a praise that brings a person out of tragedy into testimonies. This was what happened to the Israelites in Psalm 126.
From our above Text in Psalm 126, there was a condition they were hitherto in before The Lord turned their captivity around. Hitherto, they were suffering in the hand of their captors in Babylon but God showed up one day to deliver them.
Babylon represents a strange land. Babylon is when you are not in your God ordained land. No man prospers in a strange land without God’s intervention. There is no testimony in a strange land, it is a land full of crying, sorrow and all manners of affliction. This was the song of sorrow of the Israelites before The Lord turned their captivity around. Babylon represents a land of slavery and storms (Luke 8:26-29).
In Babylon there are mockers. When you are in your God ordained land, your profiting will be effortless.
Without a Good Tiding from The Lord, sufferings continues in Babylon. The Israelites were in slavery for 430 years, but one day The Lord remembered them and delivered them. Also The Lord said in 3 John 1:2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” To the sick, a Glad Tiding of The Lord’s Healing Balm will bring you out of that Babylon today in Jesus Name. It takes a Good Tiding from Heaven to deliver a man from any affliction, slavery and Babylon. The Psalmist said he cried to The Lord and He heard his cry and gave him a new song.
The Power of Praise
There is a Praise that turns one’s captivity around and bring them their testimonies. In Acts 16:25-28, we see how Praise broke the chains of Paul and Silas in the prison. No matter the Babylon you are in, there is a Praise that will turn that situation around for a testimony. Praise makes you a lord over that situation that had hitherto kept you bound. 2 Chronicles 20 also reveals how Praise is a powerful weaponry against the fiercest of enemies. God not only delivered them but also enriched His people with the treasures of the enemies. Psalm 149 also reveals how Praise is a Weapon of Vengeance against any enemy in warfare. God shows up as praise goes up.
