August 2025 | Timely Mercy and Endless Compassion
Ministering: Pastor Alaba Olanipekun.
Text: Isaiah 30:18-19.
“18 Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will answer you.” NKJV
There are many reasons people give for offering thanks to God – some are health related, business/career success, revelations from Him, etc. There’s hardly any thanksgiving that is not tied to a unique encounter with God.
What God has said should form the basis of our praise to Him – Psalms is basically David turning what God has said to Israel into songs of praise.
The prophetic word for us as a Church for August is – “Timely Mercy and Endless Compassion”. Through praise, we turn what God has said to what we are experiencing. In John 6:28-29 the Lord said our greatest work is to “believe” in Him. Also in Mark 9:23, He said “All things are possible to everyone that believes”. It is what we believe that comes to pass in our lives. Mark 13:31 says Heaven and Earth will pass away but His word will never pass away. Lam. 3:37 – who is it that says a thing and it comes to pass when the LORD has not commanded it. In John 2 at the wedding in Cana of Galilee, Mary told them whatever the Master says, just do it. A simple instruction of filling the water pots with water turned to a miracle of new wine.
The enemy is always attacking any word God has spoken concerning you. His goal is to create doubt in your heart so that the word will be unfruitful. This was his trick in the garden of Eden against Adam and Eve (as God said?), he did the same again to Jesus in the wilderness (if you are the Son of God…) but this time he failed woefully as Jesus quoted the word back to him and that was his ruin. Matt. 13 tells us that persecution and cares of this world come to steal the seed of the word from our heart.
What has God said concerning you? From Isaiah 45 – I will go before you and make the crooked paths straight. Also in Isaiah 3:10, He said “say to the righteous that it shall be well with them”. From John 12:40, we see the danger of being spiritually blind and deaf.
How God Often Speaks to Us
- Through counsels – this is an advice, not a compelling. Prov. 1:10, Isa. 46:10-11
- Through a word of instruction – kind of manual or outline (the Bible) – Ps. 119:11
- Through a command – this is an authoritative order or a compelling (e.g. prayer, loving one another, forgiveness, etc.) – John 15:17
How Do We Know What God has said Concerning You
- A diligent search of scripture – Daniel 11:32
- Be flexible in your thought and mental ability. What God says might not make sense to the carnal mind (like the wedding at Cana)
In conclusion, remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.’ Isaiah 46:9-10
God Bless You!
