Text: Isaiah 38:9-20.
” 9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness: 10 I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. 11 I said, I shall not see the Lord, even the Lord, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world. 12 Mine age is departed and is removed from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me. 13 I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me. 14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O Lord, I am oppressed; undertake for me. 15 What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul. 16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so, wilt thou recover me and make me to live. 17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. 18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. 19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth. 20 The Lord was ready to save me: therefore, we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.“ KJV
September has been tagged (for us in IGA), “The move of The King of Glory”. When God moves, darkness turns to light, and death turns to life. Everything aligns itself at the presence of God.
From Genesis 1:2 – The move of the Holy Spirit brought order to the entire creation. This means in any dark situation or challenge; God’s spirit is always ready to bring order. Ps. 24:7 says, “Lift up your heads O ye gates and let the King of Glory come in”. Chains cannot stand wherever the King of glory comes. From our above text, we see the power of thanksgiving in changing Hezekiah’s death sentence into an additional 15 years. Complains do not move God; thanksgiving is the antidote to murmurings which sprouts God’s move. Regardless of any unpleasant report before you, thanksgiving can change the result for your good.
The Psalmist said, it is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord. By His blood you have been redeemed from the curse of the law. Thanksgiving will turn any emptiness into abundance. Thanksgiving will multiply God’s grace in your life. Paul said, I am what I am by the grace of God. Never write yourself off, there is infinitely more God still wants to accomplish through your Life. Thanksgiving is the catalyst that opens a new chapter in your life. Thanksgiving and praise will crumble any wall of Jericho and part any Red Sea. Do not fret when challenges come, they are designed to lead to your rising.
Psalm 149 enjoins us to let high praises be in our mouth so judgment can come upon our enemies. Thanksgiving crumbles the forces of the enemy under your feet.
Benefits of Thanksgiving
- Thanksgiving will unlock the power of Christ’s blood to silence your enemy – Rev. 12:11
- Thanksgiving will unlock the gate of hell and death – John 11:41-44
- Thanksgiving will unlock the power of God to fight on your behalf. 2 Chron. 20, Ps. 149
- Thanksgiving will lock the mouth of any demonic lion – Daniel is an example
- Thanksgiving unlocks all the prison gates – Acts 16:25-26
In closing, God says in everything, give Him thanks for this is His will for you in Christ Jesus. There is no situation God cannot turn around, even those orchestrated by the enemy.
God bless you!
