THE COVENANT MAN.

THE COVENANT MAN.

August 2025 | Timely Mercy and Endless Compassion | Men of Valor – Grand Finale

Ministering: Pastor Shola Awobajo.

Text: Genesis 17:1-8.

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” NKJV

A covenant man is not an ordinary man, he is not a passer-by in life but one who is ever conscious of his covenant with God. As seeds of Abraham in Christ Jesus, a stamp of covenant with the Most High God is upon us.

Our covenant with God has its root in the Abrahamic Covenant.

God called Abraham and promised to take him to a land where he would be great and be a blessing to the World. He also promised to make his seed great. The Abrahamic Covenant has a 7-Fold promise. This Covenant was established in Genesis 12 but by Genesis 17, it appeared Abraham had deviated by going down to Egypt (probably due to life challenges) and God had to come again to remind him of the Covenant and charge him to walk before Him and be blameless. God never changes His plans nor alter whatever He has said, man is the one guilty of such changes. In this everlasting Covenant, God promised to be God unto Abraham and his seed.

Like God came to call Abraham back to Himself, God is calling us too back from wherever we have strayed. Despite the tough terrain of the land of America, God is charging us to walk before Him and be thou perfect. The Covenant with God requires us to depart from anti-scriptural cultural practice and embrace the culture of the Kingdom of God.

Who is a Covenant Man? He is one who lives under a Divine Agreement with God. He is one who has totally surrendered his entire life to God.

The Mindset of a Covenant Man – The thinking pattern of a Covenant man is different, as he is guided by Kingdom principles. Abraham’s thinking changed the moment he had an encounter with God. God is calling us out of our myopic thinking and cultural limiting mindsets. We are not to think or act the way the World does but should be transformed by the renewing of our mind. A Covenant man will see iniquity and run – like Joseph did when Potiphar’s wife was trying to lure him to sin. As men of Covenant, I pray none of us will fall into temptation.

Scriptures enjoin us to be perfect and pure in our Covenant walk with God. The walk of the Covenant man with Christ must be governed by the blood of the Covenant. His blood was shed to remove sin out of our lives. Gen. Jesus said, we should be perfect even as our Heavenly Father is perfect. To be in Covenant with the Lord, we must walk together with Him. Amos 3:3 – can two walk together, except they be agreed? Our walk with Jesus Christ must be renewed and continually aligned with His will in all our dealings.

Covenant Man in Leadership of His Family

  • As the head, you are the priest, prophet and protector of that home. Stand ye therefore as a man!
  • You cannot lead well if Christ is not leading you.
  • Be the Role Model of Christ before your children.
  • Strive to ensure your entire Family makes Heaven

Covenant Man’s Attitude in The Church

  • A Covenant man will serve in the Church with humility. He knows God is his rewarder, not man.
  • Be a man of faith like Abraham
  • Be a man of purity like Joseph
  • Be a man of courage like Joshua
  • Be a man of sacrifice like Christ

In conclusion, when men don’t move, the family most of the time suffers. A Covenant man thinks differently from the World, walks differently (by walking with Christ), leads his home differently and serves God differently. God is calling you to make this Abrahamic Covenant sacred before you. Take your stand with God by continually rededicating your entirety and family to God.

God Bless You!
